it all depends on who that single mom is, and what she uses to guide her decisions, as when one put two together, with children involved, the potential dynamics become much more complex.
if it's not a total complimentary match, with the two adults playing off one another as equals, and not competing to prove who is smartest, than sure disharmony will ensue. hell, look how many couples without kids exist on earth because they didn't see eye to eye... then add kids into the equation, and all the opinions and beliefs of both parties about how children should be dealt with... a wise man would never get involved with a women with children without taking very seriously all the potentials and addressing them in advance to not make it harder for a single mom than it already is... and of course, one has those who just wanna get laid who could care less about the total effect of him self in the situation, as when good times sex ceases due to stressful situations and normal growing pains, vacate for new meadows be the course of action. but no doubt a single mother that holds true to her self and does not compromise will recognize her perfect complimentary match when it crosses before her eyes. good luck peace |

personally.I would rather date a single mother.. being a single father.
.. we can both relate to each other situations... and it is a good topic of conversation... discussing each other's children... our battle stories..lol... there is an instant understanding that we both know.. our children are priority one.. .. so it makes getting together.. when we have time more special.... single parents don't tend to waste a lot of each others time.... we seem to know what we want... and are realistic about where ,we each fit into each others life... not only that.. but single parents aren't... exactly chomping on the bit to jump on a plane to Hawaii within a month.. it's more realistic. for myself to have a relationship with a single mother... single ladies without children... just.. no offense by this.. but just have way too much free time... And need constant attention.... ... and they tend to have more disposable income... so they're always willing and ready to go... on some grand adventure somewhere... like Hawaii.... always, wanting to go out for dinner... the latest play, that is in town.... don't get me wrong that's all great when you're single..... . but when you're a single parent.. . those kind of dates! are behind you... ... so single parents.. dating other single parents.. make sense... .. ok now the disclaimer...no1 phD.. is not in any way discluding are discounting.... the idea.. or the possibility of dating single women.... . I am an equal opportunity dater... .. all applicants are reviewed thoroughly...lol.... I'm just saying.. .. I'm not.. opposed to the idea of dating a single woman.... heck I'm not even opposed to dating in. multiples.. Lol..jk . . . |

I am a single dad. My son is now a junior in college, but I got full custody of him when he was 8. I was pretty picky of the women I let into our lives, but honestly, I could have been a bit more so. I believe women have it a little more difficult, because most men (most) view single moms as "women that put out", so they have a more rigorous time sifting through the chumps. But, I dated and married a woman never married, and never having kids. It was the worst decision of my life. So honestly, I would have/should have pursued a single mom. At this point in my life, I could go either way. Just my two cents ;)

A relationship should consist of two people the man and the woman and the child should only be the concern of the mother... I am a single mum and would never expect a man to think that I'm looking for a another daddy... The one I have is already useless!!!

Why don't you want to have a relationship with a single mom? Another post by Estelle with a provocative premise to encourage a defensive reaction. I pray you find some peace and support. I look forward to the day these embittered questions you pose no longer litter the forums. Derision does not serve you or others well. bye now... |

I have never been married, have no children, which is considered unencumbered/no baggage by many single people. I don't want to have a relationship with a single dad but it is difficult to find a man who has no children, and even no grandchildren, who has reached my age. It is even harder for a man to find single women my age who are unencumbered because most women settle down in their 20's and 30's. Therefore, I am willing to settle in that respect but it's a disadvantage for me because the man's attention will be divided between his old family and the new family which we create. I would prefer his undivided attention but it's rare to find an unencumbered attractive successful man my age. That ship has long sailed. Sigh.
