Dallas hospital isolates possible Ebola patient

CDC mobilizing as patient tested for Ebola in Dallas

Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas said the patient was admitted based on symptoms and "recent travel history"

DALLAS — A Dallas hospital is holding a patient in "strict isolation" as that person is evaluated for possible exposure to the deadly Ebola virus.

In a statement issued Tuesday night, Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas said the patient was admitted based on symptoms and "recent travel history."

The hospital, located at Greenville Avenue and Walnut Hill Lane in northeast Dallas, said it's complying with all recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and the Texas Department of Health to ensure the safety of other patients and medical staff.

Preliminary results of tests on the patient are expected from the CDC on Tuesday.
Zachary Thompson, the director of the Dallas County Health & Human Services, says the Center for Disease Control is mobilizing as if the patient tested positive for the virus.

The World Health Organization says it has confirmed more than 3,000 Ebola-related deaths in West Africa during the current outbreak, which has spread to five countries: Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria, Senegal and Sierra Leone.

There have been no Ebola cases reported outside that region, although some patients have been transferred to other countries for treatment. Fort Worth physician Dr. Kent Brantly, who became infected while working in Liberia, recovered after being moved to a hospital in Atlanta.

Earlier this month, President Barack Obama announced that the U.S. would offer military and medical help to combat the disease in West Africa which has now reached epidemic proportions.

Several U.S. hospitals have previously raised alerts in connection with patients who presented Ebola-like symptoms, but all those cases tested negative for the virus.

There's no such thing as a false alarm.
I'm not being rude but an alarm is an alarm even if it's a mistake.
But I get your drift.
The good thing about Ebola is that it keeps Nigerian scammers off Mingle:smile:

all vessels suspected of carrying suspected diseased cargo

or persons... to be quarantined

OFF SHORE<<<

its law... only has to be suspected

till a thorough inspection can determine

probable cause...

till that time all vessels planes, ships whatever

to remain off shore<<< or turned back...refuel and go back

since complaints were raised, ahead of time in every case...

why were they allowed stateside????

Never allowed BEFORE... EVER

should have been held at least 2 miles off shore.

these laws have been in place before 1776

why kill the golden goose unless its intentional

destruction??? do you support this act of treason by

the CDC and Homeland Insecurity???

Now I find these actions suspect... Dallas being part of N Texas..

If and I say If they want to test some nonsensical vaccine why not

send them to

John Hopkins on the east coast....

not where your political enemies reside and

do not support Federal Indoctrination... this came to me earlier on

today...I have said this for years CDC not your friend.... Doctors

and Nurses I know whom retired early agree.. they know whats comin

Buster,,,

Three Dallas Fire-Rescue paramedics and several emergency room workers at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital are off work and under observation after making contact with the patient being treated for Ebola.
None of the individuals has been identified.

Tell me I can't predict the future.laugh laugh

Not only the known infected dude, the hospital staff who originally checked him in, the medics who worked on him, anyone he may have sneezed on can be spreading it to their families. Their kids bring it to school. School kids and teachers taking it home.

Too late, y'all. Start praying ya's don't start getting lucky and win this lottery.

Not only was he admitted and confirmed to have Ebola. But he went to the hospital prior and was sent home. Then to return three days later by ambulance. They said this morning there was approximately 18 people that he was in close contact with are being watched. Does not mean they are contained just being watched.

Also Ebola is transmitted by bodily fluids hand sanitizer or alcohol does not work on the virus. But plain ole soap and water can. So learn to wash your hands...

One nurse on the radio this morning said if a carrier was to sneeze on something and happens to leave blood and you touch it with a open wound that is all it would take.

What I have read is blood from a Ebola patient stays active with the Ebola Virus for a undetermined amount of time... This is why those that die from it must be buried quickly. They have no idea how long it will remain active in a corpse.

This is way to close to home for me.... spock

Jeeze. WTF? in the 40's they quarantined households for polio. Big difference in watched and quarantined.

WTF would healthcare let a person that has traveled from Libera go home again? Just plain lunacy.

We have some strict standards even for Canadians coming in due to Hoof and Mouth disease related to livestock.

Where is the consistency for WHO?

I suspect it is a population reducing plan and a way to implement Martial Law.

Any way to do a background check on the traveler to see if he has ties to Islam? Could be one way to bomb millions of folks. Sacrificing just a few to achieve that.

That is worst panic scenario. Ebola getting into the bath salt users. Nice. Face Eaters.

I have no faith in the healthcare system. For crying out loud, "Team" in a clinic system up here, DOES NOT EVEN COMMUNICATE with the other dr.'s that have seen you AND ARE IN YOUR MEDICAL FILE.

Idiots.

I'll predict the future again.

What other large cities could Ebola do the most damage in a relatively short time?

Look for outbreaks in those areas.
