Topic: Hi. Wanna Schtuuup? | |
---|---|
In recent days (perhaps a month or 2) there's been an onslaught of remedial pick up lines in public forums....ie "Hey ladies, hit me up."
Perhaps it's a culture or language "thing"....but does this really work....in ANY culture? Maybe most of us are going about this all wrong and should suddenly, bluntly, and brazenly ask for exactly what we are "really" thinking. Signed: Looking for a good cook who loves oral. |

It probably works for some people. Like the old tired-cheese lines: they may work on someone at some point, and u only need one!
That "ability" to say whatever comes to mind is a lack of "selective speech." Everyone thinks before they speak, but they may not filter it with the appropriate social filters or may not care to do that, specially because of the anonymity the internet gives. There are many examples in the forums. |

Perhaps it's a culture or language "thing"....but does this really work....in ANY culture? I suppose it is usually a numbers game. If you tried it in real life maybe you would get slapped 999 out of 1000 times, but eventually you will be successful. However, in real life it is not time efficient. Here is a different story. Making a few posts in a forum takes almost no time at all. Even sending out copied and pasted mass e-mails can be done quickly. |

Sure it does. Just not with everyone. And sometimes a "line" such as "wanna schtuuup?" simply starts a dialogue that ultimately leads to them schtuuping at some point in the future, or just dating, or no response, or marriage. In my opinion receiving an email online that just says "hi" or "got pic?" or "wanna schtuup?" is better than nothing at all. You don't have to give people what they ask for, and getting mad at their failure to approach you how you think they should is pointless. If someone gives you the chance to have a conversation you can always take it, or ignore it. The only thing that never seems to work in going anywhere is sitting back and waiting for the perfect interaction and complaining that it's not happening. Maybe most of us are going about this all wrong and should suddenly, bluntly, and brazenly ask for exactly what we are "really" thinking.
People do. With their indirect communication. It screams what people really want. It's why so many people say "it's actions that matter!" That's what amuses me about online dating and in forums. Complaints, whines, or "observations," that boil down to "I need the indirect feedback of body language! I need action! ...but I don't want to interact with people, or to be involved in anything, just my computer screen relationship ordering menu...I need people to have an ingredient and nutrition list like a box of cereal plus already know how to communicate with me." |

so is someone going to Schtuup? No, they won't. We're doomed for eternity. |
