I've downloaded some of these before. Does anyone know of any free paint or photo editing software I can download as a free trial, sample, or to have permantly?

There's a great photo editting website called lunapic.com... nothing you can download, but you can create an online account and do all sorts of really neat things to your pics- like animateed lightening, pychadelic colors and canvas textures. Check it out. I use it a lot for my myspace. It converts the photos to codes for websites OR it will also allow you to right-click and save-as to your desktop.

that seems kinda cool! I need more of a "photoshop" program though. I downloaded a program a few moths ago and my trial time expired, and i can't redownload it. I think it was called paintbrush or something like that. I have a crappy memory when it comes to certain things. x.x

If you want photoshop free, go to yo Iso hunt,. you'll need a torrent program, or if you use Opera browser it's built in. Picasa 2 is free. I like Vicmans photo editor, again free.

Thanks! I don't think a torrent will work on my computer. So even programs like limewire won't work because my computer is so bogged down. Plus I have a dial-up connection grumble grumble grumble grumble grumble grumble It's a windows 98', so it's ancient

Shut the puter off and buy a box of Crayolas.

Then you should switch to Opera browser, it's much quicker on dial up. Stick with basic photo editing then like Vicmans. Even picassa eats resources

Educational pricing for Photoshop is a fraction of the cost ... and it is the full blown software

You really can't do anything in paint if you just have a mouse. Most of the time, people have tablets. Even with that, on paint you can't blend colors or make perfect lines without it looking "blocky" because the program isn't advanced enough.

I just want to get started on the computer with my art skills because I'm planning on going to college for video game design.

As previously stated, GIMP, if given enought time to learn the small diffrences, will act almost exactly like Photoshop.
