It makes it stressful due to all the waiting and not knowing... Now days they want to see what you can do on a piece of paper... So if you don't have all the things you qualify for put to words you will not even get a call. It would be nice if they sent a response back so you would at least know. But then that would take one person just to do that...


I know in less then two months I bet I sent out over 100 resumes. Finally I just went out and went to places and talked to them but then even then many said sorry we only take resumes online... Heck even to get a waitress job which I had to for a while to make it. I had to send those online as well...

Depending on your skill set, recruiting agencies can be a blessing as well. After all it is THEIR job to get you a job. That being said, see if there are recruiting/staffing agencies for your particular profession.

I had heard nothing but horror stories about recruiting agencies, but they are the ones who got me the Job where i'm at now, and I would have never landed it without them.

I wouldn't stop looking, but it never hurts to have someone else looking for you, especially when they have a financial motivation to do so.

I may have recently been BLESSED with an opportunity at real income in a place that doesn't require me to be a slave to someone or be fake

Yup, if you got bills to pay and no money coming in then I don't think theres time to look for the job that fits your credentials. I've worked for 2 agencies first got me only 1 object for short time but the timing was my darkest hour so, they pulled me to the surface when I was drowning...for at least a month. Gotta be thankful for that I guess. Other agency got me nothing lasting but several sites all over the Greater Manchester, but overall I did much better than before. I didn't quit looking for better job but at least I had now money to buy some representitive clothes and shoes and eat my lunch out sometimes. I dont remember sending a CV to where I work now. But a reply came, I checked the place out and did my pitch, then checked me out and... it's my second year there now. I could have not done it without the agency that kept finding me short jobs so that my bills were paid, and I could afford to have a home and internet while looking.

what ever u may feel about hunting online, think of it as a opportunity. the things u want wont come if your on the couch. so why waste time on couch, the TV shows will do reruns soon enough. go play the net, and be wide ranging about it, not narrow, some times jobs are not in your area but else where.

In my opinion, sending your resume out via the internet is a very easy way of mass distributing your information and it works as far as getting the info to the proper location ( most of the time).And it is the mandatory in most industries. The problem I have run across ( rom the other end) it that at times I was bombarded with resumes. And frankly it can get overwhelming. So you start the process of eliminating based on the raw " data" you are looking at on a piece of paper. Many times bypassing people who in reality would be a better fit... but you just don't know that at that particular time. Some of the best people I have ever hired were not the most qualified but they followed up correctly and made a good impression. Frankly they mad a point to get their foot in the door.
The internet has eliminated the human aspect, which I always felt was critical in the hiring process.

Hi, job hunting IS stressful, no matter whether online or old school. Every time you get a rejection or no response it's a blow to your belief in your own value. Being unemployed makes you feel like you are "defective". Just like being single...

Employers are like members of the opposite sex. They want you when you are already spoken for. I have always found it much easier to find work when I am already working.

I have never felt the SECURITY to sign a contract of work for one company and then seek work elsewhere

kind of feels like being in a marriage and messing around,,,to me anyhow

not to mention the need to be able to receive messages during the hours I work or am on the road to and from

and the taking time off for interviews in other places,,,,

didn't seem like something employers would look for,, but I guess it does depend upon the job


I wouldn't hire someone who shows no loyalty to a job,,I would feel Id be just another stepping stone while they found what they really wanted

Well now you are making assumptions. I have done this twice. Once was because a company was giving me work. I was there making lots of money for 8 months and doing nothing and hated it. I talked to the owner about it. New job and new city which I liked. Second time I got married and my wife ended up getting a job in another state. I informed my managers that it happened and that I would be looking for another job and would give them as much notice as I could when I found one. In fact, that one even let me use vacation to stay on until the new year which allowed me to get new vacation time for the next year and use that as well.

You see in some situations it is the employee that is easily replaceable in others it is the company.

Yes I agree it is stressful. You fill out the application but you don't get any feed back like you do when its face to face. Some applications are like puzzles and your patience is running short because you need work now.I also did what isaac suggested look at like a job, I got up and for 8 hours applied for jobs. I ended up with with 2 decent ones that I am still working at 2 yrs later. Good luck and try not to feel down when you don't hear anything right off the bat.

In addition to searching online for employment, try networking if you haven't already done so, contacting all your friends and acquaintances who are in employment, to lookout for possible employment vacancies at their places of work, employers do listen to recommendations from their existing employees and it could get you the all important interviews. hang out with people doing what you want to do, most jobs aren't filled from advertisements but from word of mouth,, and having REFERENCES with the right credentials helps too.... some things I'm in the process of learning and implementing myself,,,

and learn about investments and sources of residual income(money you work for once and get paid for more than once , kind of like retirement but in the here and now),

so you don't have to work for every penny till your last breath,, but instead have your pennies eventually work for you so you can get to enjoying life/family,,,,,
