My grandma told me to love unconditionally.

My grandpa told me to use my head, not my heart, when I love. I never listen to this advice well, and I am doing a worse job now.

True story!

My Grandfather born Christmas Day 1909 died 2 years ago.

He was a widower by 29 during the war effort with 3 kids to raise. He had 2 more. He worked in aviation during the war effort....and always felt inadequate....because he didn't "participate" in the 2nd great war. My God!

His 1st job was delivering ice via horse and buggy to icehouses in NW KS. We shared emails up to his 101st......He was an auto/body man after the war and was helping my uncle (with his El Camino) up to his dying day. He liked to work in the garden daily.

I was raised and adopted by grandparents on my Mom's side. So they taught and instilled so many things into me. That I'm just thankful.flowers

Both my grandfathers passed before I was born.
My grandmothers lived near, so they were a huge part of my growing up.
They taught me so much, but mostly about perseverance. They experienced many hardships.
But they didn't never, ever gave up. I truly admired them.

Well, my grandfather fought in the first world war and he never talked about it and just put his medals away in a drawer. I suppose that I took something from that about the stupidity of it all and that it's nothing to be proud of or glorify.
