They say sarcasm is the lowest form of wit. I tend to disagree. What are your views? I don't see sarcasm as being the least bit funny. IMO It's meant to sting and bring some level of offense even if hidden behind a smirk or wry smile. Throwing jabs or darts at another's heart then feigning it's merely a joke is twisted and abuses the one on the receiving end. Sarcasm: 1. the use of irony to mock or convey contempt. 2. harsh or bitter derision or irony. 3. a sharply ironical taunt; sneering or cutting remark. Wit: 1. mental sharpness and inventiveness; keen intelligence. 2. a natural aptitude for using words and ideas in a quick and inventive way to create humor. According to the definitions relating to the sarcasm/wit comparison in the OP's post, I think there's a distinct difference between something we can tell is a witty remark and something we can tell is a sarcastic remark. One is meant to be humorous to provoke a smile, the other is meant as a derision to subtly hurt someone's feelings. And it doesn't take a genius or an overly sensitive person to easily decipher which is which especially if its they who are being targeted.  One thing for sure is that comedy/humour, ect Is each individuals taste. Comedian/television hosts of the 50s & 60s and still today used a set up guy or in comedic terms was known as 'the strait guy' (Jonny & Ed) So guess what? When we post something we may be that 'guy' 'The strait guy' The strait guy is a change in rolls for me  D-D-D-Dam D-D D-Double Entendres..or if its not? bring back my fine educator and I would humbly take a another lesson. We all have a roll...and apparently I'm not the strait guy..D-D-Doh D-D-Did it again.  Oh yeah I'm off topic...oh come on...there nothing sarcastic in all that lot.

It can be a good way to emphasize a point of view so long as it is not a personal attack...then it is just nastiness When used maliciously it's uncalled for, I agree but isn't most humour observational? IDK, I guess humor comes from our observations. Sarcasm for the purpose of humor I don;t think is a problem - gosh that's my specialty lol I only dislike it when it involves a personal attack |

sarcasm.. what do all of you know about sarcasm.. well I'll tell you about sarcasm....haaaaaha.. you know that line from platoon... reality what do all of you know about reality..hahahaha sensation and perception (in other words if I didn;t see it, it didn't happen) lol

I think a pun is the lowest. hate puns, gah. They prefer to be referred to as.. er..I forgot,I'm not to correct. That's politically correct...boo Ok WTF do you got then? Tell us a joke...do you know any tricks |
