A Mother's love is something
that no on can explain,
It is made of deep devotion
and of sacrifice and pain,
It is endless and unselfish
and enduring come what may
For nothing can destroy it
or take that love away . . .
It is patient and forgiving
when all others are forsaking,
And it never fails or falters
even though the heart is breaking . . .
It believes beyond believing
when the world around condemns,
And it glows with all the beauty
of the rarest, brightest gems . . .
It is far beyond defining,
it defies all explanation,
And it still remains a secret
like the mysteries of creation . . .
A many splendored miracle
man cannot understand
And another wondrous evidence
of God's tender guiding hand.

South Africa celebrates Mother's Day today as does Austria, Mother's Day is celebrated on the second Sunday of May in most countries but in some countries it has been changed to dates that were significant to the majority religion, or to historical dates.

Happy Mothers day to all of you. Without you all we wouldn't be here or who we are. I know my mom is one hell of a woman to raise all eight of us.

Gibbs such a lovely thread and beautiful sentiment! Thank you so much for posting it. To all mothers out there today, may your day be all you dreamed it could be! My mother passed away in 2005; however, not one day goes by that I don't think of her and whisper I still love you, though you are no longer alive, your spirit is always with me and I will never ever forget the love you so unselfishly gave me.

I am lucky that I still have my mom, although she lives on another continent, she is very much still a part of my everyday life.....just reading though what you have all said and what Missy posted .....my Granny passed 4 years ago (my great granny 14 years ago - what a lady) and her absence (she was the quietest, most humble and religious person just like her mom) has left a void so deep, that my mom and her siblings are still reeling and grieving and talk to her as though she were still here.

Today was a day to celebrate those ladies who are both present and absent in our lives ......those that did, have done and some still continue to so much emotionally, mentally, physically and spiritually to keep the following generations the people that we have become and for us to pass on these qualities to our cherished offspring in the hope that we have facilitated the means for them to pass it on for generations to come........We should all salute ourselves too.....
