My mom, she was the greatest mom ever. She taught me to always follow my dreams, never give up, to be kind to others because you never know where they have been, most of all to stay strong. Which I have done them all, love and miss you mom

my children have always inspired me to try to be the best that I can be. I try to heed the advice I have given to them over the years.

I have also been inspired by some great teachers over the years at various stages of life.

Ayrton Senna, his passion for Motor Racing was second to none. He was a natural born racer, where his racing came from his heart. Off track, he gave so much to the people of Brazil. Gone but never forgotten.

Jesus, the way he lived his life inspires me to work on my soul and live more for the eternal instead of in the moment,,,

The physically challenged people all over the world that still take time to look beyond their natural limitations and still come together to do sports and to also make themselves relevant to the world..... Its really inspiring!!!

When I was 5, I found a box of well-worn books
in my grandparents attic.
By Horatio Alger, Jr.

They were about the American dream.
There was nothing you could not do, if you applied
yourself.

I would sneak up to the attic and read until someone
found me.
I read them over and over again.

They had a profound effect on me.
They helped shape my (later) work ethic.

And, my sense of right and wrong.
They taught me to ask no one for anything, to rely on
myself alone, to blame no one else for my life, but
to take credit for it singularly.

My largest influence was my Grandmother.
I was blessed with her in my life for 50 years.
She taught me so much about so many things.
I could write a book with everything she taught me.

Aside from my mom a person who inspired me was one of my clients from my days doing in home health care. He was a stroke survivor. The stroke impaired his entire side and his speech. My job was mostly to accompany him while his wife went to her church meetings.
We watched tv and worked on vocabulary cards. But he would also secretly do exercises to regain some movement of his arm and hand.
On my final day there (I was going back to school) he and his wife gave me a card and a little windchime. Hehad ssigned his first name on my card. His wife told me the 3 letters of his name cost him effort.
I told him it was great and he said watch this and asked for my time sheet. I handed it to him and for the firstttime in over a year since his stroke, he signed his full name. His wife was in tears at this achievement and I almost was too. And he told me and taught me never give up.

I would have to say my parents first and foremost, as far as humanity goes, for living their lives as a prime example of faithfulness to each other, to family, to ethics and moral living, to integrity in how they treated others and to their charitableness. Aside from them, my grandmother on my mother's side, always doing for others and not being self absorbed, though she was poor and raised 13 children; for loving all her children, for her strength and dedication to family, for being the bond that held her family together, long after the death of her husband; for her truthfulness and honesty; for being such a special person throughout her life! After that friends I have made through the years...for their love and caring, their unselfishness and willingness to give of themselves when I needed them...something I shall never forget! Last, but not least, my children, grandchildren, and my great grandchild who put up with me despite my faults and shortcomings and have come to realize I am just human and they can love me despite all I am not. Most of all, God or whatever you choose to call him, who knows I am not perfect, but I am ever striving to be so, through my many failings...it's his love and care I cherish above all things and am eternally grateful for because he loves me as I am and knows I endeavor to be better daily, though I fail at times, he knows I will ever strive to be the person he created me to be.
