To understand the significance of this story, you have to know about my situation. I have been raising daughter alone since she was 6 months old. She is now 8 years old. We have never received child support from her mother, whom disappeared years ago. I recently lost my job due to company cutbacks, and unemployment barely pays the bills.
So here is the story. Today I was looking at weekly grocery specials and trying to decide on which grocery store to go to first...Bi-Lo or Food Lion. I was also deciding on whether I should go before I pick my daughter up from school, or after I pick her up. I decided to go before, and I decided to go to Bi-Lo first since it would be more convenient. On the way, I changed my mind and went to Food Lion first. I had just started shopping when an old lady came by me and said, as she seemed to know me, "Do you have any children?" I wasn't sure if she was talking to me or the other people that she just passed. I asked, "Are you talking to me?" She replied "yes". I said, "yes I do". She asked, "Boy or girl?" I said, "girl". "What is her name?" she asked. So I told her. Now here is the kicker...The nice old lady said "Well, I have something for her." She then pulled out $40.00 and told me to buy my daughter something nice. I tried to refuse the money, but she just said, "It is better to give than to receive. You would do the same, wouldn't you?" I said "Yes, of course." Then she said, "Wait, I have more." She then pulled out $60.00 more and said, "That is for your wife, and buy something nice for yourself too." I couldn't tell her that I was single; I was too stunned too say anything other than "Thank you, and God bless you." The lady turned around and walked off, but not before telling me not to feel bad about her giving me the money. She then went around the corner and she was gone. I couldn't find her in the store after that. It's like God sent and Angel to give me $100.00 so that I wouldn't be hurting for money and food. Thank you Lord. Can you say "Amen"?
