Growing up we all had dreams of what we wanted to be. Did your dreams come true or did you follow a different path. I wanted to work with special needs children but things happened and it didn't go that way. What about you?

I always wanted to be an artist. By the age of 13 I'd let people convince me that I couldn't be successful as an artist.
I tried for years to fit myself into careers that were unfulfilling and finally came to the conclusion that I was gypping myself and that I deserved to follow my dreams. So I'm back to the art now. |

When I was about 10 I decided I wasnted to be a biologist or a football player. Well, knee went in high school, so no football (OK, wasn't that great anyway, mostly got my place on the team because I was fast and very enthusiastic, good team player).
So, biologist it was. Now I am an Associate Professor running a research lab at a major university. Yeah, I think it all worked out OK. |

I always wanted to be a veterinarian when I got older. Seems the older I got, the weaker the stomach got. I ended up on a winding path that brought me to the arts.

Grew up on a farm but definitely wasn't going to be a farmer.
At about the age of 12, decided to be a soldier. At 18 was one. It eventually became monotonous. When my mother was diagnosed with cancer, I came back to the farm to look after her. 20+ years later, I'm still here. It's exactly what I want to be doing. Kind of ironic. |

.. I drifted at a young age like so many of us do.. but I was fortunate to have parents.. that stressed upon me the importance of education... to this day I cannot thank them enough.. without their constant.. guidance and direction.. and their willingness to support and stand behind.. their son. until I received said education.. life may have just happened to me... rather than me. making a life for myself.... but that being said... I still want to be the captain of a pirate ship... Arrr.me. Maties...lol

I believe that I have done most of the following:
"Growin' Up"- Springsteen I stood stone-like at midnight, suspended in my masquerade I combed my hair till it was just right and commanded the night brigade I was open to pain and crossed by the rain and I walked on a crooked crutch I strolled all alone through a fallout zone and come out with my soul untouched I hid in the clouded wrath of the crowd, but when they said, "Sit down," I stood up Ooh... growin' up The flag of piracy flew from my mast, my sails were set wing to wing I had a jukebox graduate for first mate, she couldn't sail but she sure could sing I pushed B-52 and bombed them with the blues with my gear set stubborn on standing I broke all the rules, strafed my old high school, never once gave thought to landing I hid in the clouded wrath of the crowd, but when they said, "Come down," I threw up Ooh... growin' up I took month-long vacations in the stratosphere, and you know it's really hard to hold your breath I swear I lost everything I ever loved or feared, I was the cosmic kid in full costume dress Well, my feet they finally took root in the earth, but I got me a nice little place in the stars And I swear I found the key to the universe in the engine of an old parked car I hid in the mother breast of the crowd, but when they said, "Pull down," I pulled up Ooh... growin' up Ooh... growin' up |

When I was around five or so about the time I picked up a pencil I wanted to be a palaeontologist cause drawing dinosaurs was like my favorite thing in the world. Not me, I didn't know that word until I watched Friends enough times. I wanted to drive F1 and live in Monaco with all the other drives I remember when gil Vilieneuve was still alive in '82 doing American express commercials, seems like yesterday. 220mph...sounds like a dangerous job but in fact, not as dangerous as the profession I picked as a West coast Timber Faller, which has the most fatalities in North American for the "most dangerous jobs" 8 Fatalities last summer on Vancouver Island & area. |
