“I Tried to Understand”


The very first time you saw me that day.
Why did you come my way?
The way you made me feel.
Made me think this was for real.
Finally that day had come.
I willing let my heart succumb.
All the things you said.
And the words upon the pages I read.
As my heart jumped and skipped.
Now it feels as if it has been ripped.
Right out of my chest.
Just because of my request.
Of things I did not understand.
And answers I had demand.
You talked about communication.
The time I asked for information.
You seem to avoid.
My questions and get annoyed.
Instead you said I did not trust.
What I was asking was unjust.
I did not understand how that could be.
You would not take the time to even see.
The way it looked from another’s view.
Instead you said you were through.
And to all you complain.
How you were tired of having to explain.
Every single week the things you do.
Cause I did not believe you.
You could not even see that I really tried.
As I read your words I just sat and cried.
Each day I seem to find.
You are still on my mind.
I know one day.
This hurt will go away.
