The first time I remember seeing Hoffman was in the 1993 zombie-romance-comedy 'My Boyfriend's Back', Hoffman played a high school bully (very funny performance)

My favorite performance of his was as Truman Capote in Capote.

We all lose something when a man as brilliant as he dies.

If there's anything past the gate, I hope he finds peace there.

He was a good actor, I liked his performance in the talented Mr Ripley among other movies of course.

So very, very, sad. I have to wonder as much as these actors get paid how can they not have great health insurance through the unions that would be able to get some intervention way before this kind of problem gets so far out of hand.

What breaks my heart is chances are good he started using drugs as minor and someone should have been so busted.

i find it odd a man thinking gun control saves lives. overdoses on drugs.

That seems absolutely irrelevant. I think most people are coming to this thread to just say their piece on the man. He's gone. You could spend a lifetime examining every possible choice he made, but as far as I know, he didn't hurt women or children. He brought joy into my life with his performances.

And also, he's dead.

Love him here. Hate him in your mind.
