I often call women 'Dear", because I love women, nothing wrong in that at all, most women appreciate being called that - with a nice smile back to me.

I think its the content that's important. Are they being dismissive or affectionate.I have often used nicknames Honey, Sweetheart, Baby, but those are when I'm in a relationship with them if its a woman that I'm just friends with or a fellow employee then I call them by their name. I believe there is a line between personal and professional.

Good morning (((((Phoenix)))))flowers ...I think all of us love to be addressed by our name...When my email begins with Hi Leigh, Leigh, Hey Leigh I am immediately more positive about it, more willing to respond, and feel warmer and fuzzier toward the person writing even if I don't know them (especially if I don't:tongue: )...There are five names that, when used to address me in online mail, will get no response (unless I know the personsmitten  )...They are Dearwhoa , Auntielaugh laugh , Baby:angry: , Sexyill , and Beautifulslaphead ...Sorry "dude", you're out...smokin ...Addressing a person by their name is, for me, a sign of respect....

Unless a guy knows me personally, I don't like names like "dear, sweetie, hon," etc. I think it's getting too personal and familiar too quickly and it's impolite. If he doesn't know my name, he can call me Ma'am, Ms., Miss, whatever, but to just assume he can call me by an affectionate name is rude.

Yeah, these kind of words are nice spoken by someone who knows you, but in an IM message or an email from a first time contact, they are a nuisance and irritating as well. I immediately block them.

Hate it, hate it.
And if your mate says 'Yes, dear'
I thinks it's curtains.
