I am also a little confused because the OP did not finish the first sentence. So possibly we can get more explanation. The assumption is that you are talking about losing someone you are close to? that really is not always for us to control....even if you don;t take them for granted, people make their choices. If it is a loved one, we hope those choices include us but we cannot dictate that. :)

I Think its easier to 'miss' what you don't have if you have it,, there is no reason to miss it,,, just saying,,lol but its also a good idea to learn to separate love from like, or loving a person from liking the things the person does or says its good habit to never leave those we love without letting them know we love them, even if we aren't 'liking' them at that point,,,

Well it's your own fault then, as you should've appreciated what you had at the time, instead of regretting it now what you lost. You had that chance with that person and blew it? Plain and simple!

Communication is a big factor if one can not communicate with the one they are with they will never realize why. This goes along with listening to what the other is saying if it don't sink in and no changes are made then at times the choice will be made by the one that has had enough to call it quits.... Many times when it goes that far there is no getting them back. If one is lucky enough to do so they are lucky and hopefully will not make the same mistakes. If not then it is time to move on learn from your mistakes and try not to repeat them in the future... But one must be able to find closer and move on....
