Americans rank Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton as most admired: poll.
(Reuters) - Americans named President Barack Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton as the world's most admired living man and woman in 2013, according to a Gallup poll released on Monday.
Obama topped the annual list for the sixth consecutive year, a typical ranking for a sitting U.S. president, the polling organization said.

But the percentage of those surveyed who choose him as the most admired man fell to 16 percent this year, down from 30 percent in 2012.

The president's job approval rating has dropped during a year marked by a botched healthcare rollout and stalled legislative initiatives at the start of his second term.

Clinton earned the top spot among most admired women for the 12th consecutive year and 18th time overall, more than any other woman in the poll's history.

Fifteen percent of Americans surveyed gave the former first lady and U.S. senator the highest ranking, down from 21 percent who named her as the most admired woman last year, the poll showed.

Gallup said its data came from a poll of 1,031 adults between December 5 and 8, and had a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.

Other men named to the list included former U.S. presidents George W. Bush, Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter; Pope Francis and the Reverend Billy Graham; actor and director Clint Eastwood; Microsoft Corp co-founder and philanthropist Bill Gates; U.S. Senator Ted Cruz of Texas and former Republican presidential candidates Mitt Romney and Ron Paul.

The women who finished behind Hillary Clinton included talk show host Oprah Winfrey, first lady Michelle Obama, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and actress Angelina Jolie.

Also on the list were Malala Yousafzai, the Pakistani teenager shot in the head by the Taliban for demanding education for girls; German Chancellor Angela Merkel, and Britain's Queen Elizabeth and Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton.

At least it was way more scientific that that web poll the Cons were flogging a couple weeks ago about the "lie of the year." Here's a poll that the Cons couldn't rig, and they're calling it fake. Can't control the message so you tell everybody to ignore it.

Stay classy, LOL.

Lying to the nation is "classy"......Got it!

is admiration a form of popularity?

don't folks learn anything from televised talent contests,,,

when it comes to STRANGERS (which most polls involve), the popularity of a place or person is generally more about how well their PR works than anything else

look at how 'admired' America is by others even though Americans ourselves gripe about how its suddenly so terrible?

good PR will lead to the admiration of many

Good PR will lead to the admiration of many undeserving. Media makes hero's out of those undeserving. Them that believe refuse to accept the truth when exposed.

I do not know who I would most admire. what

For me, it wouldn't be someone well known, usually they acquire wealth as appreciation

I most admire those who are grateful and happy and charitable even when they are in the worst conditions

I Admire(but don't envy) many of the families of 'third world' countries who suffer through terrible poverty and injustice and still manage to be grateful and loving and happy

I admire those in our slums and projects who survive IN SPITE OF and make it out of their situation to become grateful and charitable people themselves...

I most admire Jesus, because he is the PRIME example of love and charity even in the face of TRUE PERSECUTION and exile,,,

of the choices given, I would pick CLinton or OBama from the males

and Michele or Oprah from the females

no, I do admire them of course, but at the end of the day, they had homes to go to and food to eat and the ability to be heard on a large scale,,,,,

as great as what they did was, it would be even more amazing if they had done it while not knowing where their next meal was coming or living in filth or in the middle of war zones,,,etc

the absolute CHARACTER and INTEGRITY it takes to survive, let alone THRIVE under those ocnditions and still keep ones love of people and gratefulness, is the most ADMIRABLE thing in the world to me,,,,

The male I most admire is the young men going into our country's armed forces.

Ditto for the female.

After all, they are not allowed to express their faith anymore and yet they still serve in a time of war.

I Admire them as well, the job takes a lot of discipline and self control, although it is their occupational choice for which they are paid.

CAnt say I admire them 'most',, for the abovementioned reason.
