I have a hard time, in general, admiring anyone for doing their paid job,, whether it pays well or not

but, I can still admire the WAY they do something, their character, integrity,,,intelligence,,endurance,,etc,,,

people can be wealthy and still be admired for their character, or integrity, or intelligence

but the wealthy will always take a back seat in admiration to those who have all that in spit of being BLATANTLY IMPOVERISHED,,,

Over the weekend, Dallas lost a legendary businessman and well-known philanthropist.

Harold Simmons made a fortune, and gave a lot away.

He was a large donor to the Republican party, and once called President Barack Obama a socialist.

It's interesting then, that he would give so much to a southeast Dallas charity trying to make it on a shoestring.

Pastor Bernita Scott just knew him as "Mr. Simmons" that first day, when he called her up ten years ago.

Scott's goal in life was to give shoes to poor children. Harold Simmons gave her $10,000 at a time to make sure the job got done.

From a man she never even met.
