Wal Mart decided that a $15 minimum wage was a good idea to combat wage inequality...but instead of Wal Mart raising prices, a 15% OPTIONAL gratuity would be added to your receipt...every penny of the gratuity would go to their low wage workers...the number of customers OPTING OUT would be tallied for a period of time and if more than 50% of customers OPTIONED OUT, Wal Mart would suspend the program...of course, if more than 50% did NOT option out and paid, one could DEFINITELY conclude that Americans do support minimum wage increase.

its an employers job to pay their employees,,,the reason walmart can be so profitable is DUE TO THEIR PRICES,, being competitive
people shop there so they don't have to spend much money, of course they aren't expecting or welcoming the idea of taking on the multi million dollar companies payroll as well,,, and with that profit they can pay their employees more than they do,, I don't think it has to be 15 dollars across the board but they can be as competitive in their wages as they are in their prices google maintained its profits and still increased their employee wages,, so can walmart but if they want to shift responsibility for their employees wages to their customers,, and people buy into that theory....so be it |

Being a WalMart CEO, I suggest, we could cut workers, give the incentive of the rest to raise production so, I can have a billion dollar bonus next quarter.

Those customers sell those services and products to their customers. Then the revenue from the sale of those services and products, sold to the general public, are used to pay employees, to generate a profit and to pay for advertisement....IE, to pay Google. There isn't a Fairy Princess that sprinkles gold dust into Google's coffers, or any other business, to pay their employees. The cost all filters down to the general consumer eventually. Why you may ask? That Fairly Princess doesn't have any gold dust left because it uses it all to finance the federal government. |

What if Wallmart rather than raising prices took a small cut in its massive profits to fund its pay increase? Each wallmart costs a community on average of 900,000 per year in food stamps and medical care and free lunches etc etc because of its low pay.

Wallmart can afford to give its employees a raise without raising prices they would just have to take a little less in profit. Its a false choice to say more pay for workers is an automatic increase in prices. Its a fact that each wallmart store costs taxpayers about 900,000$ per store in government aid to its low paid workforce. Its just sick to transfer tax payer money to support the Walton heirs insane take home pay, I think its 2 billion a year for each heir. Oh I forgot they worked so hard to earn that ;) |
