I think when someone asks me if I believe in God I hesitate because I don't really know for sure what they mean by God.

One answer is, "Of course! Here I am!!"

The other is, "Probably not your alien God."

or I ask.... Who or What is God to you?

I believe in myself. I am. So yes.

That is exactly what the scriptures say.. their are many gods. so which is which.

That's why Yahweh's name is so important and why he said their was no other name under heaven by which man must/can be saved.

Now Christian just refuse this and say well he knows who you are talking to. then so does the person who calls on Budda. not his name . Yahweh calls this rebellion. the sin of witchcraft. that's a good subject. What is Witchcraft in todays world. But Names point to who Elohim is.

I don't believe that the universe just happened, or that it happened "on accident" and the "big bang" is something that happens all the time at the quantum levels.

I believe in the supreme being called God. It is far easier to believe in an all powerful being than to believe the universe just happened. Seriously, have you looked at the big bang theory? Ludicrous....

Does it make ANY difference in your life that you do not know how the universe originated (and you don't but may think you do after reading religious or scientific or harebrained theories and conjectures or theorizing for yourself)?

What is difficult about saying "I don't know" when that is precisely the case?

I find it amusing that many (most?) people are convinced that they know about such things as the origin of the universe or beginning of life or about an "afterlife" based upon reading or hearing opinions of others (or having personal emotional / psychological "experiences") that cannot be shown to truthful, meaningful or accurate.

Yeh, its all conjecture. Nobody knows.

I would think if it was god, he wouldn't have to sneak around.

Religionists have been chanting that for at least 2000 years, since a preacher is claimed to have said, "Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place."

He was wrong then and the promoters have been wrong ever since.

If you don't believe what the Bible says, how can you believe there's God?
You think Bible is a hoax? No, it isnt.

i don't think anyone ever said the bible was a hoax, i personally think it is/was taken out of context when some of the rulers of the time learned what a valuable tool it is/was to control people with....

You can ask Jeanniebean if anyone ever said the Bible is/was a hoax.

Yes indeed, it has been said. In fact there have been books written about the hoax of the Bible.

But in this thread no one has said it.

Was it a hoax. Maybe. It does not matter to me.

hoax, misinterpreted, rewritten, all the same thing... it's not the original

A god is depicted in the bible as homicidal and genocidal -- far worse than a thief -- kills entire populations because they don't worship him.

God is what I think Him/Her to BE or NOT to BE. For ME.

Why believe in or deny the existence of God? WHO does this anyway?

There is no I in I AM to deny or confirm "God" (or "anything else": if someone thinks these are not synonymous.)

Nisargadatta Maharaj called God his devotee! (Some gumption!) But with Maharaj's body gone who will tell us the status of his devotee ???!!!

If god created the thief, he has to be "far worse" than him/her! And if god created the saint, he has to be "far better" than him/her!

That is /is not god. Logic may/may not be valid.

Nothing is.

The "god" of the bible is only one of thousands proposed, worshiped, feared, loved by humans. MANY believe in "gods" that are not biblical

You think Bible is a hoax? No, it isnt.

Theologians and scholars who study the bible seem to agree that SOME stories are literally true, while others are parables (fictional story making a religious or moral point), folklore, plagiarized from earlier religions, fables, legends, etc.

It becomes problematic to decide (on reasonable grounds) which tales are true and which are some form of fiction or fantasy.

Literalists, those who believe the bible is literally true, are declining as education increases. The bible is losing "authority" in developed nations while gaining in undeveloped areas.

That is a phrase that was well known then but most like u reject what it says.

He is saying to those who do not study to try and understand to them it will be as a thief in the night. it will come so fast u will not know whats happening.. But to those who try to understand he will give u signs as they are all around us now but rebellion is upon us.

I have had what u would maybe call remote viewing into the future. some still on here saw my posts of what I saw before it happened the next day.. explain that?

it is for sure u do not understand what was happening why he said to kill all of them. these were people ( the Amorites ) who would sneak up at night into their camps and capture the women and children Rape them then kill them.. this was a whole people. tell me if this happened to your family what would u do to protect them from these people doing this whenever possible?
