nope. I think I've got everybody this time.

I'm talking about the ORIGINAL Tupelo Concession Stand Brawl in 1981, not one of the 500 imitations Jerry Lawler tried to do.

OK, hint time:

One of the two teams featured a man who was involved in Eastern Championship Wrestling--the group that eventually became ECW.
His partner was later one half of a very famous tag team.

On the opposing side, one member of this team was responsible for Japanese wrestling taking more of a "shoot-style" direction in the late 80s.

About time, True Jedi! Congrats!drinker

They even tried to re-do this brawl in WCW involving Harlem Heat vs the Nasty Boys. Of course, this was during the Hogan "cartoon era" of the mid-90s, so the most devastating weapon they used was cotton candy!

You know, this forum is not only a trivia question forum, but also one to talk about wrestling in general. Has anybody noticed the sorry state of wrestling promos today? What makes it sadder is the fact you can go to Google Video and watch old Georgia, Florida, Texas, and other promos. I watched one from 1980 when manager Don Carson was promoing an upcoming match between Andre the Giant and the Mongolian Stomper. Carson's promo blew away ANYONE doing promos today---and back then, Carson wasn't even considered anywhere near the best promo. Guys today try to rely on a couple catch-phrases, and the fact that writers script their entire interview. Here, in my opinion, are some(maybe not the best, tho)good promo men from the past.

Bob Armstrong: Originated the "Southern Jive" interview style long before Dusty Rhodes made it famous.

Dory Funk, Jr: VERY unassuming style, analytical.

Lord Alfred Hayes: Spoke very softly, but when you listened to his words, you KNEW you were threatened.

Downtown Bruno(Harvey Whippleman in WWE): Bruno's style in Memphis was wild and insulting, especially considering the fact he was a very sharp wit who could come up with things on the fly.

Robert Fuller: great Southern voice, plus very witty. much better as a heel than a face interview.

So there you go. 5 underrated promo guys. Now I ask you--who's interviews do you miss hearing?

Gotta disagree with Danny Davis as the worst wrestler ever. Sure, he was lousy in the ring. But when I think of "worst wrestler", I think of someone who's been pushed into main event matches from the day he started. Someone who didn't know, nor ever learned, any wrestling moves. Someone who couldn't do an interview to save his life. Someone who couldn't even be carried to a decent match, even by the best of workers.

When you add that all up, one name sticks out like a sore thumb:

NIKITA KOLOFF!

WORST. WRESTLER. EVER.

I liked Nikita, at least he didnt have that grunt like Luger every time he elbowed someone laugh

Luger actually made something of an attempt to improve during the 80s. It was painfully apparant that during the end of his first WCW run, luger lost all passion for the business. I truly feel that's the reason he didn't get over when he did the "All-American" gimmick in WWE. Fans saw that he didn't care about wrestling anymore and took a "so what" attitude towards him. Once he returned to WCW, he saw the people on top(Hogan, Savage, Hall, Nash)had even worse attitudes towards the business than he did. And yes, the NWO was "over" with the fans. Well, the NAME "NWO" was. That, and the fact that one NWO guy beating up 3-4 WCW guys made people pull for the NWO. Much like the same reason people cheered Curt Hennig(heel) in his battle with the "No Limit Soldiers". Getting back to Luger, he just got progressively worse.

Final analysis:
Luger sucked overall, but at one time he did show promise.
Take away a menacing glare, and Koloff brought absolutely NOTHING to the table.

But what does everyone else think? Who's YOUR worst wrestler?

One Rule:
Had to have been something of a "name" wrestler. And no, the Brooklyn Brawler is NOT a name wrestler.

Terry Landel. Do you mean for "worst wrestler", Sportsnut?

If you do, he's disqualified. He's not a "name" wrestler, heck, he's not even a wrestler. Maybe we could start a category for "Worst Non-Wrestler That's Tried To Wrestle". Of course, that being the case, WCW and WWE have had a ton of people that were worse in the ring than Terry Landel could ever dream of being. Howard Finkel, David Arquette, david Flair, or Gene Okerlund for starters.

Going back to promoters(or managers if that's the same thing). My all-time favorite was Classy Fred Blassey.
