not saying that it is the reason why saddam didn't let the inspectors in but he didn't like the fact that he was being told to basically bow to the pressure that the UN and the US were putting on him and he has shown to be pretty stubborn. he may have just been doing it to defy them to begin with.
i'll be the first one admit it if i'm proven wrong but i find it hard to believe that if he did have anything related to WMD's that no trace was ever found of them yet our troops could find him in a hole in the ground.

Testimonies by our military people! It happened during the Iranian war, the wind changing direction, and the Iraqi's incompetence to properly use the mustard gas were the cause. .

The Kurdish village was located adjacent to a battlefield I might add! The villagers had stubbornly refused to leave the area. They were allies with the Iranians, and the mustard gas used came from us!

Us military personnel were on the ground within days of the incident. During their investigation, the first thing they noted was that the numbers of casualties were exaggerated!
