 On I-5 (88 miles south of Seattle ) The federal government is now petitioning to have these signs removed or Washington state will be denied additional monies for interstate highways. The State of Washington replied, they will secede from the Union rather than be intimidated. These are a matter of free speech paid for by a private citizen. Looks like a bogus story to me. First, it's old, dating back to February of last year. Second, there are few details as to who exactly said what. Just that "the federal government is petitioning." I know there are various Department of Transportation laws about signs on highways, but that's just to keep from unnecessarily destracting drivers and causing accidents. This story looks so vague, and seems only to appear in blogs. I'm betting that the only thing that happened is that some people put up signs, and others merely guessed that the Obama Administration wouldn't be happy about it.
