Participate in the forums. There are a lot of people who read the posts who never participate. Often they will contact you based upon something that you've written. Also, if you post people get a sense of who you are....and you are no longer a stranger when you do write to them.

Often people complain about their emails never being responded to. If you allow people the privilege of getting to know you a little in the forums, it can go a long way to paving the way for conversation.

I read your profile and it seems like you are looking for someone in your local area. In my experience the majority of women on this site neither post on the forums or bother with them at all. Work out how far you would be prepared to travel for dating, or how far you can reasonably expect a woman to travel to meet you. Check out as many profiles as you can within that zone and message ones that you find interesting. What you say to them is entirely up to you but try to be friendly and honest. You will find that the women on here are a mixed bag and it can take a while to find someone that you click with but it can happen when you're least expecting it.
