Not to go all Franklin Delano Roosevelt on anyone, but it is true...fear is poison.
Don't get me wrong, fear is useful. I never thought I'd live til 30 and lived real dangerous for a real long time. Self (and loved one's)-preservation is paradigm these days. .....Still, no matter when your station in life....sometimes you have to "Jump"....march forward...... Any Cliff Jumping Stories? |

I have a number of fears I have conquered and you are so right about fear being a poison!
I was in a head-on collision when I was 15 - a passenger in the car. No one died but there were severe injuries! I could NOT be in a car even for a short distance - I would freak out. Panic would take over me completely and I had no control over this. My mother found a very patient driving instructor who took my fears away - very very slowly! To prove it to myself that I was cured and to move the benchmark one level higher, I entered myself into one full season of car racing - one track was a quarter mile dirt and the other circuit was a half-mile paved oval racetrack! I also entered into 2 demolition derbies! I was 2nd on the second one! Darn! But the car and I both did take a beating! (ouch!) I am still alive (haha!) and I am an awesome driver with total control no matter what the weather does and no fear! |

I love it! Nothin like a Derby to cure fear of crashing!
Something weird. I've jumped out of an airplane 13 times to break fear, yet I STILL get warbly looking down from a 2nd story rooftop. |
