Classic Rock...mostly stuff on albums
that didn't get as much or any air play.
Rare obscure stuff...
I like folk Bluegrass, Celtic, Flamenco,
some motown, some of the Blues,
{Some country...Before it was cool,}
Celestial new age music,
also Combinations of music genres...
Folk rock, country rock, etc...

I've heard Gregorian chants infused with jazz...

symphonies playing with bands like the Moody Blues,
which isn't so odd...
But I thought it was very different
hearing metal man Yngwei Malmsteen
playing with the Japanese Symphony...

some mellow reggae and classical, too...flowerforyou

Spare me the loud crude rude rap ...
And please spare me the distorted garbage some people call music, that they blast so loud it strips the paint from the walls and annoys even the most even-keeled of people...noway

Just depends on my mood as to what I think is best. If I'm pissed, I'll goto Rapunzel's fav distorted paint thinner music laugh Or if I feel happy I'll listen to Doo Wop, and I'll listen to most anything except rap and hip hop, cause it just sucks. laugh

Best genre, that is an opinionated question but I will say my favorite genre is:

Classic Rock

Gets you going. When you have it blasting you can't do anything but get motivated.

As a trained musician... I'll chime in here and say whatever is pleasing to your ear is the best genre of music.
There are many reasons people are what I call "stuck" in listening to a certain genre of music. Influences include your parents and what they listen to,[if anything] Our peers in the adolecent years are also a BIG influence on what were consider "good music" and listen to most often.

As for me... I listen to everything from Mozart to Metallica!
I listen to Classical, Rock (All forms), Jazz, Blues, Country (Old and New), Bluegrass, even some Rap and Hip Hop.

Sheeesh...with my ear for music... I should be a music producer!

The bottom line is, if it pleases YOU and YOU like it... GO WITH IT and ENJOY!

Be well,

I agree TxSixString...I was listening to the radio as I was driving to work today and America's "A Horse With No Name" came on...I knew every word and could almost see the chord changes in my mind, yet I haven't heard that song in at least 15 years...

and I drew similar parallels between that which I gravitate to now and what I was 'fed' as a child, they are similar genres.

Oh! Joel the raw realness of it..the spontenaity...yesterday afternoon...sunset, a friend's deck, chatting away and tapping away on the table, we ended up drumming, one to the other, duelling out a beat...the grins got larger, the beat got faster and louder, the kids were drawn to it, before we knew it, two adults two kids..all bringing together the rhythm...the life force...perfect.flowerforyou
