Came across a post that insinuated that women are the weaker sex.

And my reaction was "Wow. Seriously?"

And to that antiquated and downright stupidly asinine opinion, I cite several of the following examples that exist more commonly in todays world than at any other time:

female bodybuilders
female gymnasts
female navy SEALS
female firefighters
female cops
female National guardsmen, airmen, army personell
female stuntwomen
female MMA and martial artists

Weaker sex?

Are. You. Kidding ME?!

sound off below, ladies and gents!

I believe in equality !
And even if one sex can do something better than another
The same is to be said if the situation were reversed ...
This is why we are better together with our counterpart
EQUALS ALWAYS !
AMEN

It's a well known fact that women are better suited than men at certain things, and men are better suited than women at certain things. At the risk of making a poor generalization, I will go out on a limb and say I personally find the trade off to GENETICALLY be "Grace vs Strength" Both genders possess both qualities, but generally one gender is given more fortitude in one. I'm not sure how people can assume that one is more important than the other, considering almost everything in life requires a healthy balance of the two.

That said, I find feminism to be just as gender-debasing as chauvinism. Such extremes I suppose are necessary to force an equalization, but it nevertheless hurts to hear. I don't watch family sitcoms because I'm sick of the portrayal of men being stupid and inferior to their wives. Likewise, I don't watch the rest of the television shows and commercials in between them for their portrayal of what a woman is supposed to be like in order to be desirable, among other gender debasing insinuations.

I wish the law would hold women to equal accountability in the society where I personally reside (North America). For the male it hurts to feel held to a stricter standard, and for the female it only reasserts sexist values towards women; i.e. if a woman can get away with a crime that a man would not get away with, or get a lesser punishment than a man would, it sends a message that women are not independent, strong, or tough enough to handle equal punishment. It says women need to be babied and spared from the harshness of life. I guess for the female lawbreaker facing the judge with sweat-on-brow and white-knuckles this is good news, but for equal rights it is destructive.

There is one thing women will always have over men: The blessing (and curse hehe) to create and sustain new life. Even the most sexist man should realize and respect this.

With ALL of this said, I think most people that make sexist remarks do not truly believe wholeheartedly in the remarks they make; I believe most are disgruntled by experiences in life and simply adopt these remarks to get blow off steam about someone that hurt them.

You have amazing insight for such a young man.
Your first paragraph is very well said - a healthy balance of the two.

Was there something recently in the news or something personal that triggered the conversation around women's crimes and not being punished fairly compared to a man committing the same crime? I am very curious where these thoughts came from.

Excellent post pb3.

Thanks Ouizee! I rarely watch TV, read the news or any of that stuff, so no it wasn't anything specific in the media recently. It's just my general opinion based on what I've seen, heard, and experienced in my life. Karla Homolka and Paul Bernardo committed their crimes close to where I live. There are details about their judicial proceedings that make it difficult to point out a blatant favoring of one gender upon prosecution, however, in retrospect with all facts laid out I think that she was babied. She's free living in Quebec while he rots in jail. They should both rot in jail, or they should both be free (I'd prefer the former for my safety), but there should not be a disparity like that. I have been pulled over in my car for routine traffic stops, and had my vehicle unjustifiably searched and my phone rummaged through on two occasions. Of course my age would play a part in this stereotyping from the police (us young chaps can be bad dudes donchaknow), but I have a strong hunch if I was a female of the same age my car would not have been searched. I don't do drugs, my car didn't smell like drugs as there had never been drugs in it, and I certainly don't present myself as a violent or criminal person. I present myself as intelligent, very well mannered, and docile. I can think of no other reason for them to be searching other than drugs or weapons. And again, if I was a female of similar age and similarly well groomed and mannered I doubt they'd be suspicious of me to the point they felt it was necessary to coerce the violation of my rights. I recall my mother getting drunk - as she did on many occasions - breaking the coffee table in an argument with her boyfriend, grabbing the broken table leg and hitting him with it about 4 times before he physically forced her to stop (i.e. he hugged her body so she couldn't swing her arms and beat him with it). The police arrived and took him to jail even though I attested to his innocence because he was a really tall and intimidating person, and he was really upset (angry) when they arrived, whereas she was crying and hysterical. I didn't really even like Paul as my mother and step-father had just divorced and he came barging in my life at a young age, but nonetheless, I thought it was complete BS and he didn't deserve to be judged like that.

I hope this doesn't offend anyone. I just mean to say I believe in TRUE equality. There's so much in the world that favors men and so much in the world that favors women. It sucks to hear all this whining and moaning from both sides of the table when most of the people on both sides of the table are guilty of it themselves, or only promote it as far as it benefits them. Fair should be truly fair.

All I have to say is please refer to my forum posting Deluded men in General Discussion :) That being said I have to say as a strong and independent female I find it sad that most men are intimidated by strong women enough to have to justify their sexist attitudes with degrading commentary about the opposite sex.....Please remember that God made women to be equal and complimentary partners to men and walk beside them not behind them.

Most balanced viewpoint! Thank you!

I'm really beginning to like the community forums even better than the site itself. Besides, it seems a bit of these profiles are not as articulate (or truthful) as one could expect.

But then again, what I'm looking for in a friend or acquaintance is someone WITH something to say so that we CAN get a debate going.

That, and I'm kind of a sucker for interaction and socializing on many topics, I suppose.

Thank you everyone for all the replies so far, and feel free to take a look at my profile and send a friend request if you'd like.

or post a new topic under this post and lets keep going with another topic! sound off, I'd love to hear from you!

If we had babies we'd DIE. Without the childbearin' hip capacity females have, not only would we bleed to death internally, the pain and stress would quite literally kill us, lol

Modern medicine is pretty amazing. They do sex change operations.
I'm sure they could implant a womb into a man and then cut him open to get the baby out.

It could happen.bigsmile

I should stay far far away from this thread.....but......

To the OP.....was the winner of the New York marathon male of female?

Who won the gold medal in the last olympics for the rings in gymnastics?

Who is the leading female scorer in the NBA.

Is the world recod for any weight lifting event held by a woman?

I could go on and on.........

On the flip side.

Why is it that after about 40 years in the work place, our society is going down the toilet?

Some will read this and think that I am saying that women are ruining the workplace, and by proxy, the community and society. Or maybe some will think that I am trying to say that women do not belong in the work place. Both assumptions are wrong. I'm just saying that when women controlled the home, we had less problems as a society. For a myriad of reasons.

Conclussion. Men are bigger, faster, and stronger. But we still can't hold it together without woman by our side, taking care of each other and using our strengths to help us be more together than we are separately.

Rant over......nothing more to see......

The worse pain involved with children is not even giving birth. That's the easy part compared to the life time of misery they are likely to cause you worrying about them. I've seen it happen to so many people. Good people. Even good children. There is so much drama and problems and pain....

I had children in my last life. I took this life off... rest and relaxation.
