Topic: Would you go out on a date with a person you not attracted t | |
---|---|
Was wondering if I would go out on a date with a person I wasn't attracted to, if I enjoyed he's compony & loved he's personality?
I couldn't come up with an answer to this question, instead further questions come forth, I asked myself: if I were to go out, what would be my intention, since i'm not attracted to him? If I won't, why not cause the date won't be such a waste after all since I enjoy he's compony & love he's personality? Then onother question crossed my mind: Is the date always viewed as a potential relationship or its time allocated to be shared with someone, inspite of how one feels about the next part, as long one is willing to avail him/her self? What are your views on these questions folks? (hope i'm making sense cause I asked too many questions at once, since one question led to onother) |

I went on a date with someone I wasn't attracted to but had a great personality. We ended up together over two years

I went on a 'friend' date with a guy that I wasn't attracted to. Nothing about this guy did it for me... but he had a great sense of humor.. we have been best friends for over 20 years. He is my rock... don't know what I'd do without his friendship.. he is part of our family now. He gave me away at my wedding :) In the beginning, I was honest with him and told him that I liked him, but he wasn't my type, in what I am looking for in a man.
I say be honest and go for it! |

I see nothing wrong with dating someone you're just friend's with. After all, you've already established a friendship with him/her. So why not? Providing you both know what you're letting yourselve's get into. In the acting industry especially, it happens even more, because cast member's have to sometimes play out a relationship scenario on camera. I know couple's who were friend's before marrying each other. Would I take that chance myself? Yeah I would :)

I personally dont stake everything on the physical. as long as Im not turned off physically by the person, I dont need any immediate physical attraction
I have become physically attracted after finding chemstry in other ares,, so I would definitely go out with that 'average' person who could wind up being a great friend or the love of my life,,,, |

As long as it's understood up front that there are no intentions except to have fun as friends. And who knows, after time things could change.

I am always more attracted to personality over looks anyhow, so yes I would.
However if one of us wanted to remain just friends and the other wanted more then we would have to call it off. I am not into faking feelings, nor do I want somebody faking his feelings. |

i would be friends with that person instead of getting romantically involved but if feelings grew during the friendship i would address the issue then. I would handle it with a cross between this ^^^^^, If you love his company and personality you are attracted to him. and this ^^^^. Hey there Hippy! I want to be attracted to my partner, but I'm attracted to someone in many ways. The more ways I'm attracted to them, the more physically attractive they become to me too. |

I agree that there are several different things or ways you can become attracted to someone. Physical is one thing that perhaps grabs your attention immediately. But that is just one facet!
No personality or sense of haha or similar values are a complete turn off no matter how good looking that person is! That's just me! |

I went out on a date with a man, who I wasn't attracted too. He ask me out, I barely knew him. He planned a good date, but I was not interested in him so it was a mistake to except the date. He wanted to get closer, and I didn't, so we went separate ways. That happen years ago. I would not do that again.

As long as it's understood up front that there are no intentions except to have fun as friends. And who knows, after time things could change. yabut that's exactly why I would not go on that date because if I do, he will hang onto this hope that the relationship would turn romantic. and it would not. I can tell right away if a guy has that potential for me I wouldn't want to lead him on and no matter what is said, if you say yes to a date, they start buying condoms.... |
