Topic: i can't find my kitten | |
---|---|
*grumbles* so my cat was pregnant...she was due in a week or ten days. anyhow...my air conditioner went out a couple days ago, and it's been around 107. i've done everything i can to keep them cool...fresh water, cool baths and fans when they appear to be panting heavily.
this morning, my cat delivered one kitten on the kitchen floor. i noticed she was VERY small, compared to last night (cat, not kitten...though the kitten was smaller than she should have been, as well)...and four hours later, she still hadn't had any more. i palpitated her abdomen, feeling for babes...but nothing. she's skinny-minny, other than her breasts. i had important errands to do, and was out of the house for about two hours, after making sure baby was nursing happily. when i came home...she's gone. we've searched everywhere we can think of...mama won't leave my bedroom, but the babe is nowhere. you think she ate her? |

Hopefully.

i'm continuing to look. there's no blood, no signs of anything...but no freaking kitten, either.
Maybe she carried her off to a "safe" place?

I had a cat deliver her babies in the bed with me one night. Immediately after delivering the last one she moved them to the back of the closet. My thoughts are she has moved them. Maybe she had the others and thought she was done,,, then suprise!

but WHERE?
i've searched my closets...under my bed...behind my dresser...grrr. you'd think MOM would be with her babe. |
Is momma cat hanging around with no kitten?
i turned off all the noise-makers. the fan, the tv, the music...and i can't hear a freaking noise.
gah, i'm hoping they are sleeping somewhere. i really think the heat made her lose them. |
yes, matt. mama's in my room; she won't leave...but she's not with any kittens.
Oh my God... is there anyway she could have taken the baby outside while you were out? I guess you can't hear the kitten crying either. She couldn't have ate it if there is no blood any place. I hope you find it.

I think she probably hid it.
Is there any way she can get outside with it? If not, keep an eye out for her. They hide them well! If she could get outside she probably didn't go far. I hope you find her! Good luck! |
well, the kitchen window IS open...but she's never been outside in her entire life, other than vet trips, and those are in a covered carrier.

Blah, its said that momma cats know when they've lost the newborn kitten, so they take them to a place and let them die without getting eaten or killed.
OH!
Another idea, do you have box spring under your mattress? If so maybe she hid her in the box spring, we had a cat that clawed it open and climbed in once. |
She hid it...
IN HER STOMACH! muahahaha. Tasty. I could go for some kitten roight about now. |
well...i've seen them miscarry before, and eat the kittens. not THIS cat...but others.
i just expected there to be a mess, at least SOME signs. she wasn't looking too thrilled about that kitten...took me FOREVER to get her to let it nurse. then she went ahead and started grooming it...so i thought it would be okay. |

*is running to check her box-springs*

Good luck finding them. I hate hearing these kinds of stories because i'm a major cat lover

I hope you find it!
*sends luck* |
