Could you had gave your life, to save everyone in the world as Jesus did; when he was stuck on the cross?
If you could, tell me why.
If not, tell me why also.

Not sure,we all now how he suffered. But when I watched Passion of Christ the visual of it brought it more to life of his suffering, I could hardly get through it.

I could and would, no doubt about it, but there would have to be proof convincing to my heart that it wouldn't just be an empty gesture.

Everyone says that Jesus "died" on the cross. But if he rose again 3 days later then he didn't really die.

Moreover, soldiers make sacrifices for people everyday. And they don’t rise again in 3 days. Sacrificing lives for the benefit of others is a common human trait. Many men (and women) have sacrificed their lives for others.

Yes that is true, men and women do give their lives for others, and no they don't come back in three days. However though, when our father comes back, the ones who gave their lives for others, and lived right in his eyes, will live again. Not only will they live again, they will live with our father, in a peaceful place. Where there are no more worries, and no more Heartache, and no more ruff waters.

Babygirlmckinney, that's a sine of true love… Willing to give your life for someone else… Just as the lord did, when he was nailed to the cross… He gave his life, so that we could have a chance to ask for forgiveness, for our sins. When the thorns pierced his head, he bled for our evil thoughts… When his heart was pierced, he loved us so fully; to his blood burst from him in rivers.

Wow 13 inches long is rather long for three months early. I am so glad to know she is okay now, as well as you. My friend had a baby two months early and he was so tiny he would fit into the palm of her hand. Miracles never cease.

I would indeed give my life for the life of the masses. Who am I, but unworthy and full of enough love to give it to as many as it takes?

Soldiers give their lives all the time, yes they do. But, in all fairness they do hope it will not be that way. I love and cherish all those fine people for what they have sacrificed as well as their families. It shouldn't need to be so.

As for the Lord came back in three days? Well, yes it is said that He did. But, He also left His life as He knew it on earth being with people of His own kind in an invironment He knew as His life. We truthfully do not know what His life is now. is it a body? Is it surrounded by others that have gone before us? Is He alone til the rath? Hmmmmmm.

I believe in God, Jesus and the Book that was written for us to follow. However knowing in my own mind that some things were added after Jesus gave up His life.and the original authors were dead and gone. When reading it, one can detect a difference in the dialogue? Anyway, yes. I would give up my life for the good of mankind. But, would wonder why my life would make a difference.

no way. i have a lot of love and compassion for people but i don't give two rips about the rotten people that are out there taking advantage and hurting innocent people.

if i was in that position they'd all be burning in hell because i'm not giving up my life for someone who would not only not say thanks but would kick me in the ass after.

In this example you would be giving your life for all- yes? So really to me if there is any single person in this whole world that you would give your life for then you would give your life for the world because it would include that one person.

For me, my brother is dead. I would have preferred it were me if I had been given the choice. And there are others I would prefer to have live than live myself, although I have no wish to die.

And I believe Babygirl is far from the only mother who would rather die than have their child die. Every parent I know who has lost a child, including my own parents, have felt this way....

King- so dying for those you do not care about ("rotten people out there") could be beside the point in this case/these cases, no?

First of all, LTD, I'm not sure what your opening post means.

If one had the ability to choose to suffer and give up this body to dust "to save the masses" would one?

Save the masses from what?

Secondly, Jesus did not die to save the masses. As Abra pointed out, he returned, at the very least returned fully aware of his past existence AND if Jesus was God, also fully aware of where he was going. Furthermore, Jesus knew he was God, knew he would not die, knew he was going to be God again.

Finally a couple posts under the one you began with was this:

"Tue 08/14/07 05:54 AM

Your comments nullify your original post, for Jesus, actually did not die for the masses - there were conditions.

Would that I could place the definition of what "saved" means, and the conditions for being saved, AND, I knew that I would continue to exist beyond this live and have full cognisance of my physical life and a full awareness of where I was going - YES, I can honestly say, I would suffer and die.

Would anyone else like to amend their comments, given the same conditions?

that question can't be asked in that context.
none of us can fully answer such a question right now.
We need to be in such a situation to see how do we react.

It's easy to be a hero in theory, we just react different when we come to the situation in person.
I simply don't know if I could do it.

TLW, Redy-

I agree that you can never know with absolute certainty what you would do in a hypothetical situation but I thought the question, obviously theorhetical, was asking for a *belief* of what we would do in a hypothetical situation. But asking such questions, to me, is part of self-discovery. What would you do? Isn't it *always* an approximation?

______

Also, I was thinking about this today, and I hesitate to comment on another religion, but one thing I failed to consider when thinking about the question was that according to the literature Jesus *knew* without a doubt that he would "go to heaven" and "be with his father' immediately upon death. For myself I have no such certitude. But again if we are answering the question as written, I have to assume that I would know, without a doubt, that after my day of anguish and death I would be forever in joy and serenity, as well as having "saved" the rest of humanity- so it seems an even easier (albeit again hypothetical) choice to die.

Invisible- in the case stated above I'm not even sure it would be a "heroic" act- because in this case, if I had those beliefs and knowledge that Jesus reportedly did I would *want* to go to heaven as soon as possible. I would think if you alway knew your life had a certain purpose and once you accomplished that purpose you could be in "heaven" wouldn't you want to accomplish your goaL?

I don't believe in heaven and hell, do things would be a lot different to me. I have grown out of religion by the age of 6, and though I had an intermediate encounter with it, I still have to say, no heaven, no hell.
