I don't see a down side here, the merger of Canada, the U.S. and Mexico solves the illegal imigration problem and we finally get a chance to straighten out the Canadians laugh

Do any of you know how much my life gets in the way of keeping up with internet research and the time to properly respond to these posts??????

OK, caught up on the reading, I'm going to jump right in, even though I have not completed some of the research I wanted to do.

Voil, you have managed to put together the minutes of this meeting quite well, however, I'm sure I will have more rebuttal, but have not completed my homework. Give me a bit more time.

As for what Fanta wrote, I will forgo a literary effort for the sake of saving reading and typing time.

Liked what Fanta wrote, but
left me feeling regressive. It seems most of my days end with one thought, move forward, tomorrow I take another step into my future.

Arguments against what he was saying were trivial in comparison, to the current trend in government, that Voil points out, we all agree on. We can't allow the continued forward motion of secrecy, dviancy from established freedoms and rights, and the hold of those with money over our lawmakers and law protectors.

I'm still researching those perspective candidates for the coming election, and I can tell you, my fear for the future grows with every effort I make.

I hesitate to make any step forward, if the progression can not amend the damage that has and is currently being done.

If progress does not correct, at the very least, those wrongs attributed to the 'current' governments' than how can there be any benefit to the masses?

In my personal life, when all hell broke loose, or sht hit the fan, the peace inside me whispered - be stable, stand still and assess, then determine the best course of action.

This is the voice of reason I've been tying to hear in all the conflict, through all the misinformation and fear of having no control in my future.

Between the steps of progress there must be stability. That stepping off place that gave us the strength and the confidence to move from that spot.

We have not been stable as a nation or as a common society in a long time. What Fanta projects is that last place we stood that seemed to offer a stable ground from which to proceed.

We can not just go back, there are too many wrongs to be amended, too much in progress to simply forget about. What we need to do, is 'stop' stabilize and AS A COUNTRY WELL INFORMED be allowed to voice what the major concerns are, and have our government attend to them in a manner consistent with our voice.

Voil, here is were the issue with a new venture comes into play.
We, as a poeple, do not even understand what this SPP was meant to correct. You say the reason it is not on the menu for consumption, is that they don't even know how to proceed.

Well what if we - the people- don't believe the issues that SPP was meant to correct are as important as other issues involving this country?

At this point given the current administrations actions over the last 7 years, I do not want them to take another step forward. There is no trust, it lays betrayed in the water we tread as there is no stable foothold, there is no communication that does not have the sound of half truths and there is no confidence in the abilities of any of 'our' players to take on any new directions.

What I'm trying to say, is that some are attempting to move forward, but that movement is from a burning building, not from a stable foundation with a firm and intentional grip on the future. So why not stop, stabilize, correct and plan.

We, the United States, are in the midst of so very many complicated situations that even listing them all and the branches that have sprouted from them, is mind-boggeling.

The outline I read about the SPP objectives, to me, is not an attempt to resolve the biggest issues this country is facing. To me, that means, it either has some hidden agenda or is another of those half-truths we have been force fed for 7 years.

I was a few days behind and now my eyes are burning. Redy, Fanta and Voil seem to have covered most of the individual points and concerns I did have couple of minor things to add...

"What I'm trying to say, is that some are attempting to move forward, but that movement is from a burning building, not from a stable foundation with a firm and intentional grip on the future. So why not stop, stabilize, correct and plan."

Redy- to me, with this statement you have summed up this entire administration's responses to problems. "When in doubt scream and shout" seems to have been the motto for this country for quite a few years now and inducing states of panic amongst our populace seems to have been a primary goals. Yes, we have immigration problems in this country. But I always think that illegal immmigration is a sign that despite our problems we are still doing some things right. Many people would still rather be here than elsewhere. Is it really an "emergency"?

Second, re "globalization". Do we (the US) have a vested interest in aiding other countrys with their economic goals or should we let them "sink or swim" on their own?

Please do not forget that the economic actions of other countrys *will* have impacts on us. LIke it or not we share resources with the whole world. The most basic examples are air and water. Air pollution from developing countrys can, will, and has been detrimental to our own air quality. Our oceans are polluted. Acid rain does not stop at borders. The loss of trees in one country will impact us all as carbon ceases to be sequestered and water is no longer slowed and filtered.

And environmental damage leads to greater economic problems and cycles to more immigration issues. Haiti is one example- denuded of its trees this poorest of countrys now experiences devestating mud slides every rainy season. All because the locals cut down the trees to burn fires for cooking, etc. boatloads of Haitians show up near me every week. Undoubtedly many make it onshore. In my community there are also many Jamaicans. Jamaica has polluted its waters with nutrients and now its reefs are dead and dying. Because tourism is/was a primary idustry many Jamaicans come here to work in greater numbers because tourism has decreased. Rain forests are slashed and burned for cattle grazing. The losses of these resources have wide-ranging impacts, some which are interdependent and not well understood.

My eyes are tired now but I could go on for many pages, most likely boring everyone to tears and so I'll stop and hope my point is made- globalization is not something that might occur, its something that is a reality and enlightened self interest should show us (US) that its not just "charity" out of the goodness of our hearts when we give economic aid... it's self- preservation as well.

I don't know, I kinda like the idea of taking over Canada and Mexico.

I've said for years, we get their people, why not their real estate?

On second thought we shouldn't take over their real estate because our real estate values here have declined enough as it is, if we take Canada and Mexico's land there would be an even bigger glut on the US real estate market.

Wow KId once you start laughing you just can't stop huh?
