Hmm, some interesting responses.

Everything from indifference to condoning to blaming the victims.

There is no such thing as victims.

There are causes and there are effects.

There are actions and reactions.

There are energy exchanges.

There are decisions and there are results.

There are actions, and there are consequences.

How sad,senseless and tragic
If only the management had settled this matter long before it came to this....
RIP

10 to 1, the old dude couldn't afford to live in a nice, low-rent apt and had to live in a gang-ridden chit-hole.

They were great neighbors to dump crap on the old mans porch.

What jackasses allow a dog to chit and piss on a 2nd floor balcony anyways?

Do you condone the guy shooting the neighbors over poop? I mean, you were actually laughing about it earlier in the thread.

Do you condone the neighbors infantile disrespect and disregard for the old man's health and welfare?

Were they right to throw chit in his area?

Nope, but they certainly didn't deserve to be shot.

I notice you didn't answer my question.

Would it be any different if he drove a car into them? How about poisoning their water? Maybe someone owed him a favor or two.

A gun is a means to an end. It is no more convenient than any other means of killing other people.

Deal with the criminal not the tool!

So what do we do about the evil perpetrated over money?

Authorities say an Army veteran who uses a wheelchair wielded a pistol to run off a man who broke into his home near Athens. Mark Sikes, 53, was in bed at his home in western Clarke County around 1 p.m. Wednesday when someone kicked in his front door. Sikes said he reached into his nightstand and grabbed his pistol. He said he pointed the gun at the intruder and told him he should get out. Sikes said the young man "flew like a bat" and is lucky that he wasn't killed by the veteran. Athens-Clarke County police and Oconee County sheriff's deputies have yet to find the intruder. (The Augusta Chronicle, Athens, GA, 1/26/13)

.........................................

Jack and Linda Dillon were roused from their sleep at approximately 2:45 a.m. when they realized someone had just broken into their home. The intruder gained entry through an unlocked window. He allegedly entered the home with intent to steal electronics. Linda called 911 as Jack retrieved a firearm and confronted the 29-year-old intruder in their living room. Jack fired when the man lunged at him. The intruder's wound proved fatal. (The Morning Journal, Elyria, OH, 10/20/12)

..........................................

One man was killed and another was at large Wednesday after a woman put her father's lesson in firearms to use during a burglary in southeast Oak Cliff. "I just hate that she didn't get both of them,' said Charles Brown, the homeowner. Dallas police say Brown's daughter was upstairs about 11:30 a.m. when the two men kicked down the front door of the family's home… The woman, alerted by a home alarm, fired several shots at the men, striking at least one of them as they charged up the stairs. Both men ran out of the front door, where one of them collapsed. The armed intruder was taken to Methodist Dallas Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. (The Dallas Morning News, Dallas, TX, 10/18/12)

...........................................

George Polanin, 66, went to bed early one evening only to be awakened by noises coming from inside his home. He was upstairs and followed the sound of footsteps to the basement. when he reached the stairs. Polanin said he could see only the intruder's feet. "… I got my weapon and basically told him I had a weapon, it was loaded and I will use it," Polanin said. He then ordered the intruder to come out as he dialed 911. Polanin held the intruder at gunpoint until police arrived. (Kenosha News, Kenosha, WI, 10/17/12)

...........................................

"Give me all the money you have here," demanded a man armed with a big knife of Cleveland, Ohio, van lines clerk, Mrs. Patricia Cawthon. Mrs. Cawthon walked calmly to a nearby closet, picked up a snub nosed automatic pistol, turned to the knife-wielding bandit and said: "Where do you want it?" The thief ran out the door. (Plain Dealer, Cleveland, Ohio)

...........................................

Brianne Rodriguez heard a knock at her front door just before 9 a.m., but ignored it. A few minutes later, Rodriguez heard loud noises coming from her bedroom. When she went to investigate, she discovered a man wearing a ski mask in her home. The confrontation led to a struggle and Rodriguez was pushed to the floor and kicked in the face and ribs. The masked man then grabbed her screaming 2-year-old daughter and bolted for the door. Rodriguez quickly retrieved a shotgun she kept in her bedroom and followed. Upon seeing the gun, the man dropped the child and fled. He escaped with Rodriguez’s purse and some jewelry, but Rodriguez and her daughter sustained no serious injuries. (KSEE 24 NEWS, Fresno County, CA, 8/28/12)

One example of a gun owner losing it and half dozen of firearms in the hands of citizens saving lives.

It is easy to come up with a story about a gun owner making a stupid decision they make BIG news. Try looking for the hundreds that make a good one and save lives.

Gun Control= criminals having access to firearms, since they won't care about laws, and citizens who should be able to protect themselves, their families and others not being able to.

It is a shame a couple died, but, as the previous poster (karmafury) said, those kind of stories make BIG news and the others do not....

they were not right, if they did leave poop at his door.

however, they werent deserving of death as a consequence,,,,

Bullying an old man can result in death.
Hope the ghetto neighbors learn an important lesson on respect for others.

bullying children can too, hope suburbanites learn that 'boys will be boys' is now death penalty worthy,,,,

irrelevant to the point that killing is not and should not be accepted when there is no threat to life present,,,

JRR Tolkien put it best in The Lord of the Rings, paraphrasing here:

Many die who deserve life, can you give them life? Then do not be so eager to give death....

What we have here is two opposing view points. One is based in reality and one is based on hope. The hope that better laws will make better people. The way I see it, there is only one kind of people and they don't improve no matter how many laws you write.

How many of the Liberals here are crying about people getting their hands cut off in Islamic nations like on a daily basis in some like in Africa?

Oh but they just use knives for that so it don't matter.

In these kinds of discussions people want to focus on blame because someone lost their lives we have cultural reasons to avoid any fault on the person who lost their life.

Fault and cause are really different things.

As humans that live within a society we are expected to act in certain ways. We are expected to respect the rights of others, and the right to life is the most important.

Some facts can be gleaned without assigning blame.

Just the facts.

The lack of respect shown by neglecting to take your dog on a walk, and allowing it to defecate where it should not causes anger in those that are negatively effected.

The man either could not control his anger, or did not want to (a court will decide which). A human being killed another human being and not in self defense, which is unacceptable and if found guilty the man will be punished, at least loose his freedom, and at most his life.

Can any of us take away anything from these facts. Yes.

Respect your neighbors.
