In these kinds of discussions people want to focus on blame because someone lost their lives we have cultural reasons to avoid any fault on the person who lost their life.

Fault and cause are really different things.

As humans that live within a society we are expected to act in certain ways. We are expected to respect the rights of others, and the right to life is the most important.

Some facts can be gleaned without assigning blame.

Just the facts.

The lack of respect shown by neglecting to take your dog on a walk, and allowing it to defecate where it should not causes anger in those that are negatively effected.

The man either could not control his anger, or did not want to (a court will decide which). A human being killed another human being and not in self defense, which is unacceptable and if found guilty the man will be punished, at least loose his freedom, and at most his life.

Can any of us take away anything from these facts. Yes.

Respect your neighbors.

Just a little respect and the jackasses would still be alive today.
They made their graves.

I dont know the future, its possible something else would have made him that angry, but I agree that if you dont give people a reason to be angry it is often true that they will not be angry, and that anger tends to be what causes such tragic situations.

Respect has a way of diffusing anger and preventing it to begin with.

How sad,senseless and tragic
If only the management had settled this matter long before it came to this....

10 to 1, the old dude couldn't afford to live in a nice, low-rent apt and had to live in a gang-ridden chit-hole.

They were great neighbors to dump crap on the old mans porch.

What jackasses allow a dog to chit and piss on a 2nd floor balcony anyways?

Do you condone the guy shooting the neighbors over poop? I mean, you were actually laughing about it earlier in the thread.

Do you condone the neighbors infantile disrespect and disregard for the old man's health and welfare?

Were they right to throw chit in his area?

Nope, but they certainly didn't deserve to be shot.

I notice you didn't answer my question.

Would it be any different if he drove a car into them? How about poisoning their water? Maybe someone owed him a favor or two.

A gun is a means to an end. It is no more convenient than any other means of killing other people.

Deal with the criminal not the tool!

So what do we do about the evil perpetrated over money?

Uh, they didn't deserve to be killed over dog poop.

Depends on the culture. Many have been killed for less.

You believe that's the culture in the US? To be killed over something like dog poop?

How many of the Liberals here are crying about people getting their hands cut off in Islamic nations like on a daily basis in some like in Africa?

Oh but they just use knives for that so it don't matter.

You're talking about something that happened here in the US and you're trying to turn it into something happening in other countries?

Kleisto, its not often that I completely agree with you... but I think your earlier comment is completely on point.

SingMeSweet,

I didn't feel that Willing2 was really laughing about the reality of these people's deaths. I felt he was laughing at the liberal obsession with fixating on 'guns' as a 'cause' of harm. I could be wrong.

Bushido,

drinker for being a voice of reason.

No, I'm not. There are people here in the US, as was the case here, that come from other parts of the world. One never knows now days what others responses will be.

Perhaps. But, some people's obsession with guns makes them think that it's ok to shoot someone over dog poop.

Have to agree there pard !
The bullying is obviously the catalyst in these senseless and tragic
Deaths
I blame the management and the apartment owners just as much as the old man for losing it...given the circumstances...

I actually thought I could speak for myself? You see people cry about human rights violations well we have a situation here where a cop went Rogue and he not only killed one and wounded several so far he made it clear he has a list and like Santa is checking it twice and will turn himself in if the Torrance police force and others come clean. I am not going to spoil the details. All I need to tell you is ROGUE FORMER COP HUNTING COPS SPECIFICALLY AND HE HAS KILLED ALREADY AND SO FAR HAS MANAGED TO EVADE CAPTURE!

Now this gets better, some news paper delivery people delivering news papers were near a certain 'questionable' police chief's house and police opened fire on the vehicle. Much to my surprise no one was hurt but the local police right now are VERY trigger happy and they dumped a WHOLE lot of bullets on a truck that looked JUST like mine except mine is a dark blue where this truck was a light metallic blue....

NOW I REALLY FEEL SAFE AROUND ARMED POLICE OFFICERS!

K now... BOT. (Back On Track)

In a tragic situation there is a cause and effect. Sadly people either are really nothing more than self ingratiating retards or they tend to gt along with other people. Some people just want to be left alone... And when you keep flipping their rick over (metaphor) they are eventually going to get real pissed off! Even if this man had no gun he was going to do something really destructive.

The whole problem I have is I have had to deal with filthy rude neighbors before. Some of them doing really bad illegal things had an appeal to them but NOPE, I did not cross this kind of line. But lately a lot of system failures are becoming endemic and civil involvement seems to be deteriorating completely. People who feel isolated feel desperate. And the police are good at leaving people cold and helpless. And when you make them desperate the unthinkable becomes an option.

Don't you dare consider this an acceptance or complacency to such an act. But I see a lot of bullying and likewise ignorant behavior leading to a slippery slope of cause and effect. I think these people may have had a long standing feud of sorts going on with this man and he finally had enough of calling the police only for them to do nothing and getting harassed more and more.

Really there are serious insufficiency of fact for this story to make me feel any sympathy for the victims of this tragedy. In all reality the victims set themselves up to become victims.

Just saying...

IN MY HUMBLE (cough cough) Opinion.

What kind of a damn fool question is that? It's not what I "think" it has to do with, it's accepting the world as it is. Sometimes bad things happen.

Hmm, some interesting responses.

Everything from indifference to condoning to blaming the victims.

There are no victims.

That ain't so. Them two people that were killed were victims. The shooter was the victim of a lesser crime. Just because you step in doggy poop, that doesn't give you the right to shoot somebody.
