Agree, it is ahell of a risk, so is driving across a bridge.
You risk what you want, it is all a personal decision.

It matters unfortunately. I met a wonderful girl while backpacking in Scotland, she was from Germany. I flew there twice to spend time with her, but in the end she didn't want to live here and I didn't want to live there. It was hard for both of us to realize the truth. Make sure you could, or would live where the person you are interested is from.

of course it matters, especially to those of us with kids.

i'm not dragging my kids across the country...i'm not taking them away from their doctors/specialists...their family...

and i couldn't afford to even if i were willing.

I believe in 3 Cs, which are the prerequisites before a couple should consider pursuing a long distance relationship:

chemistry
courage
(willing to) compromise

I agree Lulu...I wouldn't want to be away from my specialists (especially my shrink)

artgurl is laughing because she knows how I can act up and need to be institutionalized, if I am not watched closely

I believe if you find someone miles away from you, and you are
connecting quite well... you will find a way to meet.
Weather you are in the same state- or across the country.
It may be a bit more diffacult in some circumstances- then being
located nearer to each other. It may be worth it though- to take that chance... you never know.

People with children... are a different story. I can understand
not wanting to relocate, or not being able to afford it. Perhaps
you may meet someone willing to go to you...

Weather distance matters or not- depends on each persons circumstances.

yeah, i'm a single mother as well, we can't just drop everything when we got kids to think about. not so simple.
