i'm a soldier, thats what i am
you dont like it, i could give a damn

i fight for this country, i fight for you
i would die for you, yes its true

i fight for this country, with my head held high
never knowing when i depart, if its my last goodbye

but please dont be sorry that i have to go
for if i die tomorrow, atleast i have something to show

i dont do this to get noticed, i do it for the honor
to be a US soldier, there isnt anything fonder

you see i'm happy for what i stand for, i'll never be ashamed
i dont do it for the money, the fortune, or the fame

i do it because i believe in this country, in you, and in I
its not always easy, for that would be a lie

so enjoy the time you'll be spending with your family tonight
i'll be here on the frontline, for your freedom, i will fight

and if for some reason i dont come out alive
know i died willingly, so that you could survive

its all part of the job, if thats what you want to say
i say its part of being an American, and this is how i choose to play
