Isn't most of that from the Old Testament? I don't think Christians should pay any attention to any of that. It's old Hebrew law. It's still the bible isn't it.....I'm not a 100% sure, but I bet Christians can decide for themselves what they want to pay attention to.... |

I assume pointing out that the Bible standard is to only count a child who is one month old or older as a person; that it advocates killing pregnant women, etc. Chapter and Verse? Nah, if Xians cannot even follow what Jesus taught, I assume that would be pointless. where did Jesus say children one month or younger are not people? Where in his post does he say Jesus said it?....TBR said "bible standard"...He """""might""""" have been referring to some of these verses.... http://skepticsannotatedbible.com/says_about/abortion.html if Xians cannot even follow what Jesus taught, I assume that would be pointless. |

What I always hear is that the New Testament is the basis for Christianity, not the old Hebrew laws. They call it "the new covenant." If you go by the ten commandments, you don't need any of that old Hebrew nonsense. I personally think the ten commandments is old Hebrew nonsense too. That's just my opinion. But people can create their own religions if they want to and they have done just that. That is why there are so many different churches, all based on the Bible. |

That is a more modern view, but probably not true for extremely conservative "christians"... |

Correct me if I'm wrong.
In the modern world, the only religion where it's ok to commit violence against women is in Islam. They have rules about whoopin' da' gal and to claim rape, the woman needs 4 males to witness for her. Or, she can be put to death. If she is found guilty, she and the baby die. |

Christians have become more civilized. They used to commit violence against women a few hundred years ago. Christians are not that far ahead of Islam. Just a few hundred years. |

Probably. Christians have become more civilized. They used to commit violence against women a few hundred years ago. Wow, what a wild claim that is. Any "Christian" who did such a thing was someone who contradicted the teachings of the New Testament. |

When asked if he was sorry, Richard Mourdock demurred. “I spoke from my heart. And speaking from my heart, speaking from the deepest level of my faith, I would not apologize,” he said. I don't know what faith he is talking about. The Christian faith doesn't say that rape is a part of God's will. You won't find that teaching in the New Testament. |
