That's pretty harsh...”

Sorry about that! One of the hazard’s of Internet posting.

I was using the word “your” as an anonymous pronoun.

I should have used the word “our” meaning “The human condition”

I’m terribly sorry about the way that might have come over.

I posted too quickly thus proving unequivocally that my head is still stuck in the aforementioned predicament!

It was intended solely as light-hearted humor about the human condition in general.

My sincere apologies!

God forgive me! And someone please pass me the oil.

'anoasis',

If you 'makest fat' the head, I'm afraid it will never come out!!!

Not the right 'annoitest'.

Let's look for something else quick. I'm suffocating here!!!

So go ahead Abra and forgive yourself!!!

Oh! and I almost forgot, here's the oil. And don't forget to give it back. I need it on a regular basis. Same predicament as all other humans I guess.

'oldsage',

No one's view has been attacked here. At the very worst, there has been a humourous relief fom a question from 'anoasis', in what has otherwise been IMO a praising of the Shepherd psalm.

Could you explain what you are referring to please?!?!?

No worries Abra.

Just wasn't sure what I might have said *today* to prompt such a comment- not that I've *never* said anything that might elicit such a comment.

I'm sure God will forgive you- assuming God is interested in such relatively minute matters... I think God is too busy sorrowing over war and being filled with joy at acts of kindness.

Voileazur- Still looking for a more positive spin on the fat/oily head issue...

Really the meaning of the head anointing seems lost.

I found several interpretations- including keeping flies off the ears, or "annointing" one to serve god, another one mentions anointing as an atonement- still not clear to me why we would put the oil on the person's head- or make it fat...

your suggestions are seemingly as relevent and realistic as any of these...

Enough digression.

Back to the fact that when you are overwhelmed or heartsick this is a very uplifting work of religious poetry...

why do u guys like to walk around the branches too much?
this psalm just gives me confort.
why do we always have to make a theologic argument?
even if what conforts me is something that was written to keep the ancient tribes under control, as somebody posted around here time ago.
maybe in my mind i'm just one of those tribal individuals who need to be kept under control.

Maybe the arguments are a way to avoid the initial subject, "when I find no hope around"...

You find comfort in beautiful verses that speak of the nearness of God. This then is one of your gifts.

Others may not have this ability and so seek other ways to cope with dark times, dark thoughts, a lack of hope. Theologic arguments, joking and making fun of each other... maybe these are escapes from sorrow for some people.

I can only speak for myself when I say that it was never my intention to make light of your inspiration. I think it's an amazing verse.

However, I was amused by Abra and Voileazur's banter. And *I* feel that God is with me when I laugh. I look around at all the variety on this planet- so many creatures with bizarre and laughable adaptations, appearences, and niches- and I think God must like to be endlessly amused... so anytime I can laugh I will do so...

>> Everyone has their own views & should not be put down for them.

Yes!

Though I think its okay to put down -the views- themselves sometimes, and I may be guilty of the wrongness of putting down the -person-, but its still wrong.

TLW, I would rather have God in the valley with me than to be the baddest man in the valley. Here are the two versions I have lived through. I do better with the second version.

Yea though I walk through the shadow of the valley of death I fear no evil for I am evil.

Yea though I walk through the shadow of the valley of death I fear no evil for thou art with me.

Voil,

Abra has already apologized for any misunderstanding, I don't think that there remains any issue.

I do emphatically feel that OldSage's comments are still worthy of emphasis and consideration, and Abra's ORIGINAL statement was gratuitously disrespectful (with unstated target), and sufficiently ambiguous as to be possibly seen as applying to anyone who ritually accepts oil anointment, or who metaphorically accepts anointment through recitation of the psalm.

Do you feel that anyone is still accusing anyone of putting someone down?

This is why I prefer to remain a recluse.

It’s easier to just not participate at all, than to participate and have my intent misunderstood.

I have a very light-hearted sarcastic nature similar to the character Hawkeye on M.A.S.H. I have a very “Que sara sara” outlook on life and all of my ways are light-hearted.

People who know me in person are fully aware that I pose no threat to anyone. So they understand where I’m coming from. People who don’t know me misunderstand me and often jump to erroneous conclusions.

I can’t take responsibility for the latter. I can only apologize when it happens.

People don't need to get uptight about an exchange which took place between two people, whom were not uptight about the exchaqnge themselves.

'anoasis' asked:

"... But what is getting your head anointed with oil about? What's the benefit of this?... "

To which 'abra' replied with 'humour':

"... It makes it easier to extract your head from up your,..."

If you follow the exchange, I don't believe 'anoasis' felt put down in any way shape or form. She pointed out later enjoying the exchange.

If anyone else got offended by this exchange between anoasis' question, and 'abra' answer to it, they should simply realize this was between two people, and didn't concern or target them.

As for any other possible offence, there was none. Only PRAISE from different perspectives, of 'Lonelywalker' invitation to re-visit 'the lord is my shepherd' psalm.

As for the thing about 'walking around the branches', 'Lonelywalker', I'm not sure what your expectations in hosting this post: WE ALL LIKE THE PSALM. Isn't that good?!?! :)

C'mon 'lone' we're with you all the way here. Don't pick at the crumbs!!!

p.s.: 'massage', abra's message wasn't disrespectful in any way, it was light humour! And it had a specific target: answering 'anoasis' question.
And 'oldsage' comment, while in good faith I'm sure, was simply impertinent: there is no trace of personal 'put down'.

Unless I'm missing a whole other 'offence' here!!! If there was a personal put down, I want someone to point it out to me. I do not condone personal 'put-downs' period. But if people invent 'put-downs' where there are none, well I don't condone that either. There is no need for a Morality squad on this 'post'. In good faith 'massage'.

Ummm... maybe everyone needs to read the Psalm again... preferably while doing some serious deep breathing...

I'm so sorry Abra, I was pretty sure you were kidding... didn't mean to stir things up. flowerforyou

On the other hand if I ever did feel attacked- *wow* you guys are good about making sure no one gets their feelings hurt!!

Please, back to the Psalm. Or maybe someone has another verse/writing that brings them comfort?

Matthew 6:19-34

I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?

Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?

Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?

And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labour or spin... Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Who is getting uptight?

laugh laugh

My last post was simply an answer to your question.

Do you fail to see the ambiguity of object of Abra's earlier post?

Sage - wise words!

Anoasis, You just posted my most favorite words in the entire Bible.
