I am not sure where to put this.

Still shakeing but thought I would share that I woke up this morning to look out my bedroom door to see two men standing in my living room starting to burglerize my house. Maybe with no car on my driveway they thought they were in an empty house. Who knows. Usually I do go for early morning coffee. Thankfully didn't walk back in on them. Evidently they came in the back garden slider as that is how they went out.

Luckily I took my bedside phone, slipped around the bed, shut my bedroom door, then locked myself also in the bathroom. and called 911. While it seemed like hours it was just minutes they had my house surrounded by half a dozen cop cars, me questioned by officers while they ran down what looks to be both people. Two are under arrest. Hopefully they won't be able to post bail.

I identified one and they said I still described the other so well that when they spotted him and attempted to stop him he started running and fell showing where he evidently fell off my wheel chair lift and scrapped up his shins when they heard the 911 operator asking me all kinds of questions even though they were only feet away. CSI investigators came out with in an hour and finger printed all over. Will say they were really nice about it so far. Landlord sent the maintenence man over to fix my door.

Evidently the only thing they were able to take before they heard someone in the house was my asthma medication so out some serious bucks there but not like I have anything that great to steal other wise. Guess they were not interested in my cheapo laptop or didn't have enough time to grab it. Looked in the refrigerator so guess they were hoping to find more medication or who knows what.

Cop laughed "Boy did they pick the wrong person to rob! " I actually told them enough that they knew who to nab and both were carrying stolen property and burglery tools in a backpack.

I am still shakeing like a leaf. Guess I really will be sleeping with one eye open from now on.

All the more reason to have a gun in the house.

I don't feel so ok. Thrown up everything I have eaten so far today.

Really having a hard time rationalizeing how two young men in this country, who are able bodied enough to scale what was a six foot fence most likely, try to out run a half dozen armed cops, and evidently enough money to have a bag full of tools to burglerize what are most likely dozens of homes can't use the same energy to hold down a job.

Now my best friend is talking about moving away in with her daughter.

^ I don't know but yea I would think about it.

With elderly neighbors wandering around I actually thought at first that was what is was. God for bid I shoot some poor old soul.

I am thinking about getting some kind of security but know these kind of bastards are going to laugh at you if you don't drop them in their tracks. Spent my whole career with out having to kill anyone I would hate to have to do it now that I am an old lady.lol

You should have seen how cocky they were when the cops pulled them out for me to see. explode

Not sure they will be so brave when the word gets around to some of the hard core homeless people me and my Dad have been helping over the last decade downtown. "They" darn near beat to death a guy who kicked the van one time when we ran out of handouts one time.

I guess one thing good is the Officers saw our family military and professional awards; said "lady we are going to take this one really
"personal".

I just have to think how many old people they have robbed of life saving medications and personal treasures. tears

Glad my Dad did not live long enough to have to go through this.sad sad sad sad sad

I'm so sorry to hear about this. I'm glad you weren't here, only upset. It will take time, before you really feel safe again. A guy that I was dated in the 80's turned on me one night,I've pictures and scars. I tell my kids. It was a First-Class Hard Lesson. I didn't know to shot it but I got a gun and it made me very careful who I let into my life, even today. Enough about me. Talk to god,He'll help you. Also I would get a gun, even if you don't use it,it might make you feel better. Prayers headed your way. Take care.

I empathise. I was home alone, near no phone and in bed when a burglar opened my bedroom door. It is scary as h3ll. Lol, I must of scared him with my bedroom hair. Thankfully he bolted, but it took me weeks to feel safe again. I am pleased you are ok :-)

Pacific star: If I am ever in need of an alarm system, will you volunteer your personal services?

I first need to get something in the house of course that is worth some money, before I can start worrying about buggery. Or burglory. Jeepers, how do you spell. So you may have to wait a little for the job, but we'll keep your credentials on file. Our filing system is in a credenza, that's why we call your stuff "credentials" -- they go in the credenza.

At any rate, I am proud of your brave deed, that you had the necessary amount of wherewithal to memorize what the buggers looked like. Or burglurs. Well done.

I mean, the thugs could have easily jumped on you and played tic-tac-toe with your toes and upper intestines. But their belief that you had a gun saved you.

This is what we in Canada call psychological warfare: You shoot the enemy with air guns, while the little drummer boy plays the air drums, and the pipers play the airpipes. Nobody gets hurt, but only the guilty.

You are one brave lady. I wish I were there to shake your hand and grab you where it feels good for both of us.

Wow really sorry to hear what you had to deal with...I'm not a gun person myself and have yet to go that route... At times even a small dog will turn thieves away from a house. Only due to the noise they will create.

You can get alarm systems installed for around $20 a month worth once peace of mind.....

Wux, STFU!!! You don't know what you are talking about and you're just making it worse.

(((PacificStar)))

I'm shaking for you! That is such an unbelievably scary thing to have happen. You showed amazing courage and presence of mind in how you handled it. You should be so proud of yourself! And I am so relieved to hear the cops treated you right.

As far as a gun goes, it's probably a good idea. For home security, a shot gun is cheap and the sound it makes chambering a round is enough to make anyone turn and run before you even pull the trigger. They are easy to work and you don't have to worry too much about being a good shot. You also don't have to worry about keep it oiled the way you do with an automatic handgun. A revolver doesn't have to be maintained well either, but you kind of have to be a good shot with those. Although at close range it probably doesn't matter. Anyway, that's my suggestion, but you'd go to a gun store and talk to them. They could give you the best advice.

I'm not ready to get a gun yet, my youngest is just turning 9 and I don't feel okay with it yet. But, I live alone like you do and I'm going today to buy a bat. I've been saying I'd get one for a while, but the wait is over. Your story has me just about throwing up.

Hang in there. flowerforyou

They don't seem that bright, but most criminals are not, that's one of the reasons many of them turn to crime as a means to make ends meet.

Maybe they chose your home for a reason, so that you could help put them away. Maybe they'll learn from it, may be not, but at least you kept yourself together enough to get them put away.

Sorry this had to happen though, even though you may be strong enough to handle such a thing, you certainly shouldn't have to.
