I had a night job as a security guard. All I had to do was make rounds every hour or so and stay awake. I had access to the internet and started doing this because it was something to keep me busy and fun.

How did you start?

Why I started is because it increases the pool of people you meet.

I was under the impression that there would be free food and drinks.

It can if you use it. Another hook in the water. I agree.

A non-techie friend (did not know how to use a
computer) asked me to join her up on this dating
site she has gotten in an email advertisement.
It was Mingle2.
I had no clue except I had to sign myself up
first to get her on it. The goal was to look over
her prospects, screen them for her, then pass on
the suitables.
I found I could not do that very effectively from
MY membership, so I used hers, skydancingA, and
let mine deactivate for the first 6 months or so,
using only hers, which she did not use. (I also
got permission from a moderator to do this, not
being sure myself.)
Then, I found the forums, right away.
I thought that was totally cool.
A place to yack and yack.

Lo and behold I accidentally met and fell for
another Member.
What a shocker.
So I reactivated my profile, deactivated hers,
the rest is history :-)

..now normally i don't reveal my trade secrets, but i'll make an exception.. an excerpt from fast times at ridgemont high..one to live one's life by..no doubt..

Mike Damone: I mean don't just walk in. You move across the room. And you don't talk to her. You use your face. You use your body. You use everything. That's what I do. I mean I just send out this vibe and I have personally found that women do respond. I mean, something happens.

Mark Ratner: Well, naturally something happens. I mean, you put the vibe out to 30 million chicks, something is gonna happen

I figured out that I could doink women from anywhere in the world with the internet.

If anything...it makes me apprecieate the women who aren't within my arms reach....I know, I ain't allowed to bone them all....but, that don't mean I can't love and apprecieate them for being the sexual goddesses that they are. There are alot of fine lady hoes here. ....and I like it.

Yes..I reserve my love for my broad.....I still think the rest of you gals are pretty damned hot. (except for the fridged griping nags)

It was just another way to meet people.

I enjoy meeting people from all over and discussing different ideas and thoughts. Finding other viewpoints on subjects that interest me is fascinating and I like the idea of having friends all over. As far as dating wise and the possibly of meeting people, although I meet plenty of people in my daily life, nothing really clicks and I figure talking to people and seeing if something clicks does no harm.

Places to meat women..
Bar, don't drink...
Church... don't like to be judgmental...
Grocery Store... don't care to shop, but interested.
Library... too quiet, but no one has attacked me there either.

Internet has the unique perspective, that you can see a lot more about someone other then just a pretty face, the internet can have the potential to let you find a better match. The downfall is, you don't gain as many friends.

soufiehere pretty dang awesome! What a reward for being helpful.

I joined this site back in '07, because we were having a bad winter and I kept getting snowed in,lol. And a few people I knew told me about it. I quit coming around for awhile, because I wasn't having much luck on here. Only recently came back on, have chatted with a few people, and they are really nice. No luck in the dating part though, but who knows what will happen? Maybe one of these days....

For me computer dating was just a matural extension of dating via other communiites I belonged too.

Lot of groups were finding that the Ham radio was way cheaper than Ma Bell's long distance or printing and postage getting ahold of scattered college/military/extended family and then CB's were so cheap that jumping over to the internet where you could actually print off only info you wanted immediately was worth the expense especially when shared.

For me connecting with other People with disabilities was a big draw.

I came to Mingle when it was just Say Hi because I was told that a large number of disabled artists were doing some top notch work in several nediums, writing, and music. New to California and not planning on staying I was just marking time until I got back to my real world community in Atlanta.

Googled dating sites. I almost didnt make it to Mingle2 because I couldnt get that 'type in code' right. I found other dating sites really boring and this site is not.

Eh, I just felt like it. I just decided to search for it, and I found this site.
I actually don't even see this site much as a dating site.
Everything people talk about here is akin to a lot of usual non-dating teen sites I see (in which a ton of sex language is used)...except that here everything isn't has crazy.
People here are clearly smarter and some debates we get into actually get me thinking about my responses.
