Why is it on rating threads, not so good looking guys withhold points on a girl who is clearly beautiful on a thread where she asks to be rated? I mean guys who are nothing to write home about will say a girl who is clearly very beautiful is a 7 when she is clearly about a 9 as the pics are with little or no make up and just snap shots. Not modeling pics with photo make up and air brushing. NO, I am not talking about me.

It's not just about the looks of a girl but also what they write about them self. one can not just judge a book by the cover.

Sorry I should have clarified. I meant just when they wanted an opinion of their looks. Not their entire profile.

Pictures can be decieving...no one is a 10 in my opinion(since no one is perfect)

I wonder about anybody who wants rated on their looks in the first place. As far as I'm concerned, somebody who asks that has some sort of mental issues going on and I don't want any part of them!

Sometimes everyone needs a little confirmation...right? I mean you could be a 10, but after some rough spots and/or being treated poorly for a while, you may now feel like a 3...Maybe that is just the easy way to get a little ego boost. As for why a guy will tell a gal she is a 7 when she is a 9?? First...looks are not everything. I have seen plenty of 10's go to a 1 after only 2 minutes of speaking with them. Second...Maybe the guys are just trying to make them feel like they are less then they really are so they will be easier to get, or more in their "league". Isn't that the way it works now days...tear them down to your level? J/K.... OR...Three...they are just angry little dudes trying to get back at all the pretty girls that have never given them the time of day? You decide!

What one sees as beauty is not the same for the next person...They rate them the way they see them...

Personally I have just always disliked the idea of rating anyone. Everyone here is more than a cropped photo and a set of words. To me, handing out ratings of any sort nullifies that mentality.

I have read what everyone said here: I agree that beauty is subjective, and I am also against the "rate me on my looks" threads, they just seem too shallow for me... ALTHOUGH, I did post on one of those threads were everybody was rating the person above, based ONLY on their looks, NOT on their profiles. I just did it for fun and karma punished me right away: I GOT A 5!! LOL As you can see, i didn´t take that seriously nor as an offense, ( and I didn´t even think if I desrved that 5 or not, I mean, it was up to the person who rated my picture. The thing is , I don´t need any confirmation - as somone mentioned here -, I just did it out of boredom)

If it was just a joke I would say fine have fun, but other than that these types of things I find very shallow at best.
