When I was newly married and having some difficulties in our relationship, I cried out to the Lord one day saying, "Why doesn't she love me?"

The Lord gently spoke to my heart and said, "That is the wrong cry."

With that He had my attention. Then He said, "You should be asking me why can't you love her."

Everybody is looking for someone to love them, to respect them, to comfort them, to be understanding toward them in their weaknesses etc.

But most people don't understand that love is a giving thing.

1Cor 13:4-5

4 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; 5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil;

Of particular note, love is described as that which "does not seek its own".

Love is not looking for someone for comfort, but to comfort.

Love is not looking for someone for understanding, but to understand.

Love is not looking for respect, but to be respectful.

Love is not looking to be cherished, but to cherish.

So I say, STOP LOOKING FOR LOVE.

And START LOOKING TO LOVE.

Give, and it shall be given unto you.

Well said sir. I believe if we heed to this we shall have reduction in divorce. I have learnt how to love and it has really helped me to live even with my enemies.

When love flows from a person, people are like moths to a flame. Curiousity intrigues them and as they come closer to the flame, they melt and are consumed by love.

Well first I find it slightly ironic that the title "stop looking for love" would be found on a dating site lol. But then I took a closer look and read your post to which I say well said sir!
We are recognized by the world to be Christians by the way we love each other and others.

Stop looking for love. Well, its true we love one another than looking for love. Give it shall be given unto you. You're right.

Many people do not know what Real love is.

Very true, indeed -- love is not being preoccupied with what you'll get but what you'll give.
However, most of us have to go through selfish, egocentric or narssistic love first, before we come(usually through pain, suffering, regret -- through the "cleansing fire") to realize what love really is. It's transformation that all men undergo who decide to let Christ into their lives (one way or the other, sometimes unconsciously, but most usually at the lowest and most painful point in their lives). It's a turn into life of freedom (from our own egos), compassion, true love (even for our enemies), humility and gratefulness.....
