Nobody becomes successful by listening to peers. I bet most of those who say you're not good enough don't have the guts to pursue their own dreams.

Go for it. You're the only one stopping you. I'm not saying it will be a cake walk, but you have to at least go for it.

Never compare yourself to the best others do; compare yourself to the best you can do.

forgot who said that

As a trumpet player I couldn't hit high C, my umbrage or whatever wasn't good enough. But my sheer technical ability made me better than others who could hit high C. Follow your dream, all it takes is practice, practice, practice! And teach on the side...

Work on learning to teach, it will improve your overall skills as well and inspiration will eventually strike.

Hogwash on your peers My dear! If you love it, do it, and forget about the haters.

Since when do you have to be super talented to Have fun and be a a great Entertainer.

Not saying trash your life being obsessed but if it rocks your world chances are it will someone elses.

But one caviet; NEVER ever under estimate the great gift teaching music is. "If you give a person the gift of music then you give their soul wings." Somebody probably a lot smarter than me said that but it stuck in my head because a great music teacher gave my soul wings that way and I amm forever grateful.

Also Google how to make a home music studio and things like that. Get an idea of what you want to do and go from there.

why not do both? if its your love nad the motivation isnt fame or money, than take those two things with a grain of salt and do what you love

many artists make it, some on vocal chops and some on stage presence and some on their own unique style

there are many ways to be 'good enough' in the business, but most important is doing music because you love it and let the business sort itself out,,, or not,,lol

I couldn't agree more. drinker. Hey it's YOUR life :) Why are others so bothered about what you want to do with your career anyway? They probably did what they want, so should you in this case. The world is your oyster.

Never listen to someone else when it comes to your dreams. The only person that can make you fail is yourself. If you don't try..then you fail, if you never try you will never know. I am sure you can start off by doing little gigs in or around your town? Then news travels, if you are liked word does get around.
At least give yourself that chance so you will have no regrets!!

Well it depends upon what type of performer you wish to be. Whether singing, in a band, playing instruments... etc.

It really doesn't matter what anyone else thinks, it only matters what you think. If you feel good enough, go try and do it, and don't give up. Try to get on American Idol, hit some auditions, look for open mic nights, whatever. There are more openings and possibilities than you can imagine all over the place, and we live in the greatest self promotional age in history.

If you do not feel good enough, practice and keep working at it. Post stuff on youtube and ask for suggestions, requests and comments to help further yourself. Ignore the BS ones and pay attention to the accolades and the constructive criticism to tighten up your abilities and discover what you can and can't do, your range, and possibly ultimately what you would like to do.

It is your dream, but only you can make it happen.

It's just a saying. If you listen to it, you've made it become true for you.

Go to an open mike/stage where no one knows you and see how they respond to your performance, remember some will like, some won't; but you should get a sense of what you need to improve.

this is the best advice if seen,go to a local or even not so local bar that has opem mike nights, don't tell anyone else.you will be surrounded by like minded people.look in local adds for musicians wanted or post your own, great things come out of this.good luck

Peel away the bad peers. Pair up with a good peer. Not everyone who appears pouring beer is a peer.
