if putting me over their knee implied any 'issue' my parents had , it was that issue of deterring behaviors that result in much worse if continued into adulthood than a few minutes over someones knee

MsHarmony..I'm pretty sure your parents are proud that you are keeping with their handed down tradition of resolving conflicts by striking children

did you remember to send them a picture of the first time your stuck your child so that it can be placed in the family scrapbook

hey look at little timmy...look at how the camera caught the light at the right angle to capture his moment of pain

Cowboy...if God asked Abraham to kill his child...then who are you to dictate what God wouldn't ask you...besides you already stated that you would "Absolutely" kill your child if God asked ....

you once tried to argue that it's ok for Christians to go to the doctor instead of waiting for God to heal them ....so here's the question

how nonsensical

would you also suggest parents send 'pictures' of other types of discipline

like the first time they set them in a corner, or grounded them in their room?

discipline is not USUALLY something people take pictures of,, the purpose is not to glorify or memorialize bad behaviors...

see MsHarmony...like you stated "time out"...."grounding them"...I knew you could come up with more ways of disciplining a child instead of resolving a conflict by beating them

I have never been beaten, time outs also didnt work for me or my siblings because we actually had quite the imagination and time to ourself was never a deterrent to much of anything

grounding worked for my brothers, who were very active in sports and hated to miss it

did not work for me, because I wasnt into sports, and preferred using my brain and having peace and quiet to anything material

,,so, like I said, discipline works in BALANCE, and differently for every child

for MILLIONS of children, spanking works, for others, time outs, or being 'grounded'

I have had my BEHIND BEATEN,

beating behinds I condone,,,

proudly,,,,

but not the typical imagery that is alluded to with the word 'beating'

I had my behind BEATEN when I was old enough to know and understand english and instructions and warnings

I can count on one hand how many I had, and deserved every one for the importance of the lesson needed,,,,my first was at four, and was no more than five to ten whacks on my butt if that

but the notion of a one size fits all world with raising children is part of the problem,,,there is no 'set age',, each child is different, their intelligence, their understanding, their relation to their parents

all factor in to when it is 'appropriate' discipline

Not, denying anything. A judgement is not "killing". And God wasn't truly asking Abraham to kill his child, was only testing his obedience. God didn't truly want him to sacrifice the child, if he would have wanted that, he wouldn't have stopped it.

Did anyone mention this? This is a guy who predicted Jesus would return between 2003-2005 and just got arrested for beating his daughter. Matthew 23:15

There are an awful lot of self-proclaimed Christians who miss the mark. We are humans (good, bad, and ugly) before we find faith. Zealots and hypocrites exist in ALL faiths!

Really? Are you serious???

You really actually believe that ??

A human Blood sacrifice?

What kind of religion is that? A blood cult??

Its uncivilized.

God does not test people or tell them to "sacrifice" (murder) their children.

DEMONS MIGHT TO THAT.

Or an insane delusional person might think that.

But since "Abraham" never really existed, its a total myth anyway.

placing a child on the altar with the intentions of killing them and the child believing they are about to be killed is clearly child abuse....do you not agree?

Not after the Lord specifically told them both it was a test. Relief would then come over. And the child would understand, atleast later on why that happened and would be proud of his parent for obeying God so much. I know I would be anyways. It wouldn't be seen as child abuse in the childs eyes, as he would know the Lord was proud that he was obeying.
some God that puts his beloved Children through such mental Distress!
No excuse!
Just lets hope it never occurred!
