Topic: Christians have no right to wear cross at work

Some people claim that the crucifix has healing powers too...or images of saints have healing powers.

Just because someone says it does, doesn't make it so

Otherwise people could say anything has healing powers.

Should be equal across the board

I wear my jewelry for it's protective powers. Same thing.

I did work there.

We believe that you worked there.

LOL well I guess I don't have a reason to lie about that??? LOL

My point is simply that I cannot take your statements into consideration sinch I only find evidence to the contrary. It doesn't mean you aren't right. You may be. But, it doesn't matter. I am going to have to not believe you until shown otherwise.

exactly...just as someone wearing a cross might use it for protection/well being too.

None of them have medical proof that it heals though. It's all in belief, faith, opinions...whatever someone wants to call it.

Personal I have no problem with someone wearing those things. I don't wear the cross either. But I do think it should be all or nothing....especially when the government is concerned.

Back on topic here.

If you were a person who had been persecuted by a religious organization that happened to use a cross as their insignia and you entered a government building that had promised you that they were neutral on the religious issues and you were served by someone wearing a cross, you would not feel safe nor believe that this government really was unbiased.

Yep, I wear a crucifix or St. Benedict medal for that.

I don't find jewlery offensive, it is silent, adornes or enhances a mode of dress.

What is offensive to me is verbal statements in confined areas that I wish not to be a part of. Preach your religion in such a place and call it your right, I will light up a cigarette and call it mine!

Fair is fair!

(commenting on the OP....I wasn't going to read 6 pages of posts right now bigsmile )

Mexicans who come to California feel this way about all law enforcement. There's nothing we can do about their past experiences. They are going to have learn to deal with law enforcement here and get over their past experiences with a corrupt government if they want to function here.

If I had been raped by a man, would I be able to walk into a government building and demand that I not see any men? Your argument is ridiculous.

So then it would be ok for me to go to a Bar Mitzvah wearing a shirt with I HATE JESUS CHRIST KILLERS on it?

My point is where do you draw the line?

I wouldn't recommend it.

yeah i might end up circumsized for a second time....ouch

Where I used to work...I had 1 friend that was pagan and wore the pentagram/pentacle (sorry I'm not sure the correct term) and 1 friend that was catholic and wore the crucifix. I wore nothing. And I saw nothing wrong with either

This was a privately owned company so they can make their own rules (within the law of course), but the government needs to stay out of it IMO

I'm Christian and I've never persecuted someone for their beliefs and I don't condone anyone that does. I, personal, enjoy learning differences.

To be honest if i had a businees i wouldn't mind a few religious thingys around from the employees but if they start bringing in pews and podiums with tithing buckets, then i'd have to stop that.

It wasn't an argument, it was a factual statement.

In your example, yes we would have accommodated a rape victim. We would have and did accommodate for fear of government having dealt with humans from all over the planet.

Your point is moot still.

I agree with both of these posts laugh

I don't like anyone preaching at me either...but a cut of the tithes might make the medicine go down a little easier laugh

In order to accomodate a rape victim you would have to not hire men. Wouldn't that be discriminatory against men? And, what about the man who was abused by his mother his whole childhood? He won't want to see any women. Perhaps we could simply automate everything so people didn't have to deal with people at all. Wait, we already do that on the phone and it doesn't usually work so well.
