As a mild Falcon fan I see his prison time as a good thing for the Falcons. He has shown no improvement with his passing for his entire career. He can run so what, he's a fake wanna be and I hope they throw the book at him.

I think that Mike Straka says it best in his Grrr Column on Fox News this week...

Innocent until proven guilty. Even if he is a d-bag.

well, it my understanding that he rented the property to some guy, that used it for dog fighting, he,s being charged unjustly.

Vick's cousin was there paying rent supposedly...(I doubt it)
There were hundreds of fighting dogs there and Vick went there enough to know what was going on. The NFL just barred him from training camp. I think he is done. I don't see him getting into a uniform other than a prison one ever again.

Like it or not. Vick's got too much money to go to jail. Also the Falcons need him right now. They just traded off his back-up. Who some say was actually better than Vick. I don't know though.
Even if he is convicted, I think he will still play. He'll play this year either way.

Let's remember we are in America. We can't just punish a person who hasn't been proved of any wrong doing.

But yeah he knew what was going on there!!!

ummmm, hello, he left a paper trail. so yeah, he is guilty, and it's disgusting that anyone would partake in something so cruel! i used to like him, but now, not so much.

Pepper, in a lot of states (and I don't know if Virginia is one) a "landlord" (the quotes are my own since I think he knew exactly what was going one there) can be held accountable for what happens on his property. It was originally designed to punish property owners who allowed the buildings to be used as crack houses or other places where drugs were sold and/or processed.

Vick's personality and criminal allegations aside I think that the Falcon's should just bench him and unless he would cause them to take a huge cap hit prepare to move on. He's entering his 6th season as an NFL quarterback and has made little progress since his rookie year. I know, I know "He hasn't had receivers worth a damn." Yeah, neither has Tom Brady and he's got three rings. That's a somewhat unfair comparison but you see my point- other players do more with less. He's a fantastic physical talent and can make you jump out of your seat on any given play but as a leader (and that is what a QB needs to be) he's totally lacking and no team will ever win a Super Bowl with him as their QB.

Well....if he is PROVEN not guilty...I have no problem with him returning to the NFL. The problem is that WE don't know how much he actually allowed to go on. My guess is that he knew all about what was happening and was just letting those other guys run the whole mess for him. If there is a money trail that shows he was financing the operation his goose should be cooked.

Past problems & the people he associates with, say trouble.
Birds of a feather. IF he did the crime, do the time. Should never be able to play again. What kind of example to the youth of this country. Wonder what Bill Cosby would say.

If Vick uses his money to falsley get an acquittal, he will just be another O.J.. Just an existence with nowhere to go.

If he's guilty, send him away.
If he's innocent, let him play.

Seriously, has anyone noticed that:
Michael Vick is accused of running a dog fighting ring, and executing dogs that don't perform "up to standards"....
Pacman Jones is on a one-man crusade to commit every possible crime there is to commit.....
Tank Johnson stores enough illegal weapons to fight the Chinese Army single-handidly....

And yet, there are fans everywhere that are constantly making excuses for them and want them back on the field ASAP.....

And these SAME fans are, on a daily basis, calling for a LIFETIME ban on Terrell Owens from the NFL....

WTF????????

Owens' only "crime" is that he's a jerk who cares about no one but himself. Geez, that last statement could easily apply to, oh I don't know, about 95% of NFL players. But T.O. needs to be banned. The next crime T.O. is charged with will be the FIRST crime T.O. is charged with. But HE should be banned while people like Tank, Vick, and Pacman are welcomed back with open arms? Come on, I'd expect that level of crap from a garbage "sport" like Major League Baseball. But the NFL, and it's fans, are supposed to be better than THAT.

I agree with your statement. If he's guilty, send him away. All I was saying is If he is guilty (and goes free)the NFL should not let him play!! If he buys his way out ..he is just as guilty as if he was behind bars but he is escaping punishment.
Oh by the way. The NFL was going to suspend him for 4 games if the comissioner had not stepped in and told Vick NOT to come to training camp till further notice.
He may get off scott free because he did not live there at the place. If that is the case he will have to hope that the guys getting accused don't spill their guts and tell all for a plea bargain. If Vick has enough connection to this...he is in deep sh!t.
Owen's is just a self destructive human being. Not in the criminal category.
Tank and Pacman have there own problems which I don't know much about.
The NFL has had it's share of bad people. I don't put them higher than baseball which has always been a fairly clean sport. I little cheating and gambling here and there with a little steroids passed around but that is in all the sports where big money is involved. The cheaters are in all sports and it's usually just a matter of time before they are caught.

Lakeman, I agree with all your points. I wasn't referring to anything you said when I posted previously. I'm talking about the fanatical football fan(usually found on local sports-talk radio) who has some twisted sense of right and wrong. To them, being a jerk is much worse than being an accused criminal. Look at the Chris Benoit situation. Granted, he was good at what he did in the ring, but that's no excuse for what he did to his family. Yet fans of his(check out the Benoit threads here)are, to this day, making excuses for him. Just like Vick, Pacman, Tank, and others in sports who are accused of crimes.

Sorry if I came down too hard on MLB. I've just got an almost pathological hatred of Major League Baseball. But that's worthy of it's own thread.

The ASPCA is helping in the investigation too, and I've seen them in action before so I know they will get to the bottom of it all. drinker
