Is it wrong to find your happiness in others? Whether its caring, loving or friendship. Noticing them. Does it make you a selfish person to want to make others feel happy and have the happiness returned?

I don't think searching for happiness or trying to spread happiness is selfish at all but I'm sure somebody on here will.......

you should be selfish and find out why you are not happy

Well, it can be considered selfish as you are doing something for someone else and that it benifits you by making you happy. However; who cares if it is selfish? I have always tried to make someone happy every day. Sappy, but true. It could be a compliment, a surprise or doing something helpful for them. I always feel better about things when I have made someone happy and brought a smile to their day. I don't think it makes me selfish, but I DO benefit from it.

As long as you are happy; that is what counts. If you already are happy and just want to show how you feel is it still selfish sounding? To me; personally no it doesn't sound selfish sounding. Its really just how its perceived. For instance if I give money or donations to the homeless shelter; I do it because it makes me feel good. This could be considered selfish because it benifits me by making me feel good. However somone else could say what I did was selfless. So, its all in how you look at it. |

Is it wrong to find your happiness in others? I would say it's delusional. If you look for your happiness in other people, you are going to be disappointed. Over and over and over. Happiness -- in my opinion -- must be entirely self-derived, self-generated, and self-rooted. No one should put that kind of responsibility or expectation on another person. |

People do things in different ways. |

Can't see why, I love making people happy, It makes me happy to see the pleasure on people's faces whenthey are happy.
But it isn't what makes me happy, that comes from inside me..

I have to "make" that determination on my own. And, in the long run, it's a mistake to let anyone else have any say in the process.... |

Is it wrong to find your happiness in others? Short term, I don't think so but long term yes because you can become too co-dependent on others. Does it make you a selfish person to want to make others feel happy and have the happiness returned? Yes, if the sole reason is if you're giving to recieve. |

Funny thing is this, having someone in your life can make you more happy if things are going well. The opposite is also true having someone in your life can make you miserable no matter how happy you are with yourself.
