Topic: Urge congress to make English the official language

many countries have an official language, it doesnt affect what language people are allowed to speak, it just sets a STANDARD that people are expected to understand for business and education purposes spain and venezuela and argentina have spanish as official languages Israel has hebrew as an official language I am not passionate about it happening or about keeping it from happening,,,, Israel has Hebrew as an official language? correction: they are one which has TWO,, hebrew and arabic You forgot ancient Hebrew which the Samaritans still speak.

Of course English is already the official language. I don't think they need a declaration or act of congress. Just think of all the translators that would have jobs. Its funny these days when I buy any product it will have an owners manual and it will be written in sometimes five different languages.

Yep... Educational opportunity. Compare them enough and you will be able to read all five. with some semblance of understanding. and never pay a dime to a university.

Right now it's make English a National Language,then it will be make everyone speak English,then it will be make sure everyone is white,then it will be make sure everyone is my religion,then make sure everyone has blonde hair and blue eyes... Its much better to allow everyone to speak their own languages so we can go back to a society of tribalism where everyone lives in their little enclaves and goes back to hating and killing people that wronged their ancestors 300 years ago.. That's brilliant.. So then, is your perspective to make English THE DECLARED 'international' language? I only ask because tribalism exits here and they speak, read, and write English. People live in their own little sub-cultures (enclaves) and speak, read, and write English while they hate and kill people. Likewise, as a society, you are still likely to 'hear' or 'read', in English, about English speaking Americans who still believe some recompence is due to those whose ancestors suffered the abuses of slavery. So how would a 'national' language resolve those things?

One of the first things Hitler did in Germany was make German the official language. All other besides the United States have official languages, but other languages are spoken and written there without persecution.

doesnt mean we are going to become hitler. hitler did alot of things. not all of em bad. No no no no dont you see, every single thing that hitler did was a foreshadowing of his evil. This is why I don't wear pants, nor do I trust people who wear pants. Hitler wore pants!

All other besides the United States have official languages, but other languages are spoken and written there without persecution. No one is saying you can't speak other languages, what this is proposing is that all government documents be available only in English i.e ballots, food stamps, school related documents etc.
