I sometimes have a hard time straight-up telling someone how it really is, so I make up excuses. For example - "Um... I can't because my mind's blank and there's a problem at my bank." What's your excuse?!

Hmmm I just laugh and pretend they arnt serious. I have always hated saying no or upsetting anyone.

Good old stand by: its not you its me. I have a major problem with confrontation. At one point I did blurt out to one guy to cool it, I think he liked that or something. So he kept going. FINALLY I came out and said well, I'm going through a rough time, be nice to have a friend now...I think that was enough to scare him off. :)

I don't really understand why anyone would have a problem with this because a simple thanks but no thanks or sorry but it doesn't look like we have anything in common works for me. Honesty really is the best policy, as far as i'm concerned, and saves a lot of precious time for both.
