I have actually been reading more about this since having listened to a few different perspectives from some mormon friends

I believe the soul of the believer goes to be with God and the soul of the unbeliever does not( I am still not firm in where that soul actually resides during that time)

I believe after judgment, all souls are reunited with their body to face their final judgment/destination

The basis of Indian astrology is mainly concentrating on past life karma (deeds) and experiencing the good/bad effects in present life. Planets indicate the purpose of the current birth.

no..."life" after death is just mans way of trying to be immortal, something that can only be done through science, not religion...

Each person will have their own personal beliefs on life after death but for me I certainly do believe. I have noticed too many things in my life that support that belief. For instance ghosts. I go on ghost hunts and they are proof to me that there is life after death at least in the paranormal sense. I also believe in life after death as in our spirits move on to be with the Lord. Many will not believe there is life after death and that is ok for them to believe that since it is the freedom of choice that the Lord gives us.

What a horrible thing that will be for the fat and the ugly. I do believe in your first two statements, but I think that we will forever be separated from our physical bodies.

life is a gift and we don't have to take it by killing.

Was there, exactly where I am going when my time comes, I was very comfortable with the whole experience, stayed a while and talked, and it was explained to me that it was not my time yet, as my place there was still being prepared.
moe, can you explain why you think immortality can only be achieved by science, I don't believe any of us are seeking immortality, they are just personal explanations of our own experiences, some may have stronger Religious beliefs than others, but then who's to say that these experiences are not scientifically based, none of us know, I remain open minded on the subject.

No, dead is dead.
Its okay tho, when you actually do die and the very center of your brain never fires another synapse you won't know you are dead because there will be no you.

No missing anything...
No regrets...
No considerations to be pondered...
No you at all

There won't even be emptiness or blackness.

Death is dead, period.

Bold statements Tom,but how do you know.

Been dead and brought back.
Car accident years ago.
My brain still had oxygen and firing synapse
The things I saw and the euphoria I felt were from my brain firing everything it had to keep me going.
If my brain would have completely died, I wouldn't be here now.

Been recently under anesthesia. Brain higher functions were inhibited. It resulted in an empty spot. I started dreaming as I came out but it was a short period compared to the full time loss.

The brain is what makes a person alive. The involuntary core is what keeps you breathing and your heart beating. The id resides in the higher functioning parts of the brain. When the brain is starved for oxygen and starts to die it goes into emergency mode and you get near death experiences. Once dead, there is nothing working and all that is left is a dead person.

If a soul leaves the body when someone dies, mine must have done a u-turn. I just can't believe that. Dead is dead.

Well tom, maybe it did do a u turn,to me you hadn't gone far enough, I had-but after discussion, was turned back, to me Dead is Dead is only a response to not arriving, if you had, you may actually feel different, then again, maybe not.

If there was life after death I would have stayed dead.

I can't even say you'll find out because there will be no you.

You won't know you are dead because to know something requires a functioning brain. You won't know anything. Senses are signaled to your brain.

You can skydive without a parachute, you only need a parachute to skydive twice.

Are you 100% sure about that Tom, and how do you know absolutely beyond no shadow of doubt what truly happens after we leave our human shell?

Suppose our souls are part of the Universal Life Force that consists of pure energy. We reside in our human shells during our Earth Walk and once we leave that shell we merge with the Universal energy, or choose to venture on another Earth walk by residing in another human shell.

I believe our souls/ spirit does continue, but I have no way of proving that.

I suppose if I die in this hurricane, I will find out. I'll find a way to let you know, if I do. whoa biggrin
