I've tired downloading LimeWire and other so called free programs to creat a cd and all.

However most of them have spyware / adware / Virus etc etc.

So is there any other way to download music for less then .99 cents pre song etc.

Just wondering, I posted the same or close to the same question on another site and all they give me is free ware programs to try etc, which nearly almost killed my pc needless to say, now I'm not saying all free ware music programs are this way, just the very few I run into and listed above.

The limewire program itself does not have spyware, adware, nor viruses.

Though its true that, using limewire, you could choose to download programs which have spyware/adware/viruses.

But if you are looking for music, and -only- download files in a music format (*.ogg, *.mp3, etc), you should not have a problem with spyware/adware/viruses.

As far as I know Real play and windows have time limites or amount of time you can play videos or music etc.

I'm looking to get so many songs and burn them to a cd after I have the ones or more I want etc.

I don't think real player or windows would allow this unless you pay.

Lime wire is a virus / spyware / adware full software from the last time I tired using it, just to download the software it self was a pain so I give up.

Are you -sure- you used the official, authentic limewire program? I have been using limewire for ages, and downloaded a fresh version a few weeks ago, and these claims you make about limewire are simply not true. There is NO adware, NO spyware, and NO viruses in the actual (authentic, official) limewire program.

Now, if you had a bad experience using limewire, and want to use something else, thats cool! But there's no need to spread falsehoods about a great piece of software.

Another way to get music is using the bittorrent protocol.

You can download this client:

http://www.utorrent.com/

And then visit a site like:

www.torrentscan.com

Because there are more steps (mouse clicks) per download, you can look for large, combined repositories of music, like entire album or album collections in one file. First you download the torrent file off the web, then open the torrent file in utorrent, and wait (sometimes a very long time) for utorrent to download the file.

i have limewire, and it has no viruses. i HAVE, however...downloaded something WITH limewire that turned out to be infected...and limewire generally catches that.

i did use limewire to download bearshare pro...um...and i use that mostly now, cause it's faster, but since you are downloaded user files (just like limewire), they can also have viruses. just run a scan.

i use utorrent, as well...and let me tell you, if you are going for an entire album...it's THE way to go. i downloaded metallica's entire discography that way, heh...

uhm... someone told me that limewire can be tracked by the police or something and if they track you, they fine you... is that true? and i just downloaded utorrent.... how do i download songs from it?

If you use Limewire with intellect, you dont get virii.

It makes sense that anything that is 197.7kb is not going to be a song or file!!

What they have done to dissuade people from using Limewire is put millions of files on Limewire all with virii.

So, the smallest size for a song really is over 2000kb, so if you put in your trash can, anything that is under that, that significantly reduces the chances of virii.

I have been using Limewire Pro (hacked) for about 6 years, and only once had a virus. That was because I stupidly downloaded a small file.

But in the past, I have had a full Microsoft Office suite, and all the codes, and loads of other stuff.
I have AVG looking after my system too, and this finds those nasty little files with virii.

Moral of the story ... Limewire is superb in the hands of an intellect.

smalltip: get the free limewire and then download Limewire Pro. It speeds up the downloads and gives you a wider choice.

and if you are worried about being tracked...then download and end the program. do NOT leave it connected to the network...

i always scan any downloaded program...and while i HAVE downloaded viruses, i've never had a problem, since i've trashed it before running the program.

utorrent has a search program...type your request into the search, and it will automatically pull up torrent pages to find your download. i LOVE this...i get entire discographies with one click.

There used to be a site called leantop.com where you could download anything for free, but now it's gone and that name is for some sort of health care product or something.
