Presidential Candidate Ron Paul Slams SOPA

A few days before the election circus in the US will start with the Iowa’s caucus, presidential candidate Ron Paul made a comment on the pending SOPA bill

“They want to take over the Internet,” he said.

“Can you imagine how much we’re going to be curtailed in the spreading of out information if we lose the Internet?”

Paul says that while SOPA is claimed to stop piracy, it’s mostly going to invade the privacy of citizens and restrict their freedom.

Ron Paul currently leads the majority of Iowa polls.

Romney, Perry, Gingrich, and their "leader" Hussein love it. What they hate is freedom of speech. They can't handle it.

I believe it.....and find it ridiculous

this sounds like a repeat of the scare surrounding the patriot act,,,parts of it sucked,, sure

but overall, my life nor the lives of the large majority of people havent been changed by it one iota,,,,

mine has....

Those who exchange liberty for safety lose both. If you think the Patriot Act didn't cost any freedom, you are simply uninformed. It's a gross assault on the fourth amendment, couched in platitudes, deceit, and fraud. There's a good reason rational men (and women) in this country have always opposed such measures. History tells us that The State will overstep its boundaries when it's ever given the chance.

I guess I would rather live safely with fewer luxuries than die refusing to negotiate with any,,,,



patriot act is how old now ,,ten years, I just havent seen evidence of the great loss of freedom its caused,,,,

Over the years, I have witnessed many changes in laws that are meant to monitor and regulate almost every aspect of our lives.

Now, at a whim like Waco, they can call us terrorists and assassinate any of us.

well, ten years, so far so good,,,

waco was before patriot was ever heard of,, so I guess that risk would not be something new,,,

If I don't see or hear about it in the news, it must not be happening.

Im the last to think that, but also the last to be in a panic about that which I have zero evidence of,,,

particularly with US bills where noone can actually show me what PART of the bill there is to be up in arms about,,but just lumps it all together,,,,

Everytime I open a bank account, everytime I fly and have to be touched and have my space invaded,everytime I renew my license, everytime I have to carry more, have personal invasions, everytime I have to wait for a friend to come through the terminal and I cannot meet them at the gate and therefore it does affect me, my life and that of every US citizen. It has affected you and your friends, you just choose to accept it and blow it off. No, I haven't been held. I will state this it does concern me that US citizens can be held indefinitely withoue any recourse, and all it takes is for one authoritative figure to abuse their power.

I recall previoius to the patriot act that I had to wait at airport terminals, so IM not sure how it applies

but authority figures will always be able to abuse power,,,,

thats why its called an abuse.....

abuse is the risk that comes with any type of authority,,,


but it doesnt mean authority is useless or unnecessary at all,,,

Its worse, it takes longer, you have to remove your shoes, strollers disassembled and run, I can not meet anyone at the gate, i have to wait, its longer more of an inconvienence.....ridiculous.....I quit flying

you are right, I guess I blow it off as pretty insignificant

And thats how freedoms and rights get taken a little at a time blown off as insignificant until you wake up and ty are no more....until the world and freedoms youlost do become significant, but its too late because it was insignificant before.

obesity begins a little meal at a time too, but I wouldnt stress at each meal, because sometimes a meal is just a meal and is serving a legitimate purpose for our bodies,,,

Complacency has gotten many freedoms taken and/or restricted.
Complacency will allow the Gov. to take away more.
